Lambo dealers got a two line E-Mail from Lamborghini...........

It stated "Hard top Carbon Fiber available for 06 Murcie Roadsters........will fold in hlaf and go in same sleve for the rag top in the front trunk"

THEY will fit 05 already out there.......NO PRICE SET YET!!! Should be with-in 3 to 5 weeks...I am guessing AT LEAST $9500.00 US.

It is really ridiculous that, in 2005, the top Lambo roadster (and most expensive of the lot) STILL does not have an electric roof like all modern cars do. Even the Gallardo is going to have one! The Murcielago will have to wait and it costs a lot more!! What a joke! I was going to get one but I think I'll wait for a new Lambo roadster with an electric roof whenever that is. Until then, I am happy with my 2000 Diablo roadster -at least it has a roof solution eventhough it is a hard top!

The Murci was planned as a barchetta, barchetta's have no roof...

The Gallardo is a spider, therefore it was planned from the beginning to have an electric softtop.

two reasons?
1) weight?? maybe this is the "excuse"
2) there is no room in the car for anything more. where would the electric roof go? impossible with this design. this is the "reality"

uhhh champ i hate to break it to you but unless your talking about a matchbox there is no 2000 diablo roadster - and what electric roof are you talking about? have you ever even seen a Murcielago? where would you put it?

The last built roadster is XLA12660 and was built in 1999...

I've seen this one before and something is very odd / screwy. The "last run, special edition Millenniums built for year 2000" were in the serial number range 123xx, have 1999 VINs but they allegedly have 2000 build dates. They were supposed to be the "last builds". That aside, generally the Diablo model year 1999/2000 cross over in serial numbers is around 124xx.

Even if the one above was indeed the last one produced, simple math would put the build date of serial number 12660 around late 2000 early 2001. So why do you think 12660 has a 1999 build date or better yet, do you know the build date ie month/year?

Right - and its not inconsistant with nor alters the fact that the cars are actually 1999 model year cars (all XLA123xx VINs) - the article just states when they will be built.

You will also note that the article is inconsistant with itself ie "Diablo VT 6.0 will be the only Lamborghini built during the 2000 production year".

If it helps my 2000 Diablo SV roadster is a RHD Aussie delivery. As far as I know, from Lamborghini, it is the only one in this country for that year. How what where etc, I am not going to debate anyone and don't be offended. I am simply happy to drive this thing and I know it is a genuinely rare car! I will wait to buy the new roadster with an electric roof when they make one for the V12 whatever they may call it in the future. I hope that carbon roof will be available here soon.
