So, how come Ferrari can still produce non-hybrid v12s and we need to deal with all the negativity and issues that come with the hybrid Revuelto?

I'm curious about its sound.

According to Ferrari, the 12 Cilindri has particulate filters located behind the catalytic converters to reduce emissions which meet E6E standards, which are now tougher than ever. I also read that the exhaust is heavily modified to muffle the exhaust sound to comply with EU noise requirements. In other words, this V12 is heavily muted and neutered.

I'd rather have the hybrid V12 because, from the few videos floating around, the Revuelto still sounds good and shoots flames. Plus, a hybrid setup allows Lamborghini to sell the car anywhere in the world and for most of us, you can save on taxes because it's classified as a "hybrid".

Only if it works. I'm a bit concerned because of all the issues people are encountering. I don't want call the road assistance in the middle of a road trip. I remember that happened with SF90 to someone in a group full of Lambos. Lambos laughed of course.

The 12 Cilindri is a grand tourer and not a direct competitor to mid-engine super-sports cars like the Revuelto and SF90. Although it was a very close race, many of us were disappointed that the Revuelto was beaten by the nearly 5-year-old SF90 in a drag race. Imagine the outcome without the electric motors. The Revuelto would not be a sub-10-second quarter-mile car as the limits of the NA V12 have likely already been reached. To remain competitive in the mid-engine super-sports car segment, the Revuelto needed to be a hybrid.

To add to a previous post, the 12 Cilindri exhaust note has been neutered to 72 decibels due to stricter noise regulations. I'm happy with the approach Lamborghini took in developing the Revuelto.

I went to my local Ferrari dealer today and "pre-ordered" the 12 Cilindri Spider. I like the aesthetic better than the 812, and I applaud them still making N/A non-hybrid V12.

I learned that I'm not a Ferrari person. Blind loyalty to a brand, and purchasing whatever they put out to buy the 1 in 5 cars that resonate isn't appealing. I was politely told that they would take my order, but with no purchase history, chances are close to zero. Which, I kind of expected.

That's fine, I guess. I just am having real resistance stepping in the electric "future". 😞

I wish Lambo would still give us Luddites some anachronistic treats, but I think Winkelmann has been clear he isn't doing that.

The trade is you have to make super ugly car...

Just joking, it's a clearly a direct choice. Market dictates that major mid-engine supercars go hybrid. Lamborghini is just following a trend and making that choice. Its been in the plans for 10 years.

Ferrari and Aston Martin with their front engine super GTs don't follow hybrid trend yet, because they have essentially cornered that market and they still manage to fulfill the regulations of EU and other countries with those cars.

The 812 GTS is gorgeous, meanwhile the 12C is a big downgrade styling and sound wise. It revs to 812 Comp's 9500 rpm, but sounds quieter than a normal 812 and F12.

However, for me at least the design of the 12C is made slightly better when it is in full black:

I loved the F12, and thought the 812 was a big downgrade style wise. It was way over styled, and worse from every angle in my opinion. This is obviously a new style direction, but feels like F12 should have gone straight to this 12c... feels more natural progression.

The 72db sound limit for EU compliance is pretty terrible. I'm sure aftermarket exhaust and pre-cats can fix it. Even better is if they sell different versions for different markets.

Is the Reveulto not similarly sound neutered?

72 dbs at Idle? At a certain RPM? Or at any speed?

My Ultimae has 72 at idle in the papers. 92 at 2000 RPM. Most cars have the noise at 3000 RPM. So Lambo already pulled a trick so that the car can make more noise earlier.

But things are going downhill. It looks like eager police is now checking the noise in any of the driving modes. Which is a problem. Or they claim your car is too noisy and you spend three months in court to get it back.

Even cars without modifications from a few years back can no longer drive on many tracks including Nürburgring due to noise regulations. And yes, they measure permanently and you get the red flag when you are caught.

So, anyone who can please enjoy the sounds as much as you can. But I doubt European manufacturers will make different versions for the different markets. Too expensive to make more variants. But yes, aftermarket should have an easy play.

Manzoni did it again. Another disaster with the 12 C.
How can he mix a gorgeous style from the 60s (Daytona front) with the super modern back (and also quite messy and ugly!)?
I totally agree with some comments above: 458 was stunning and so was the F12. The 812 is a boat - huge and heavy.
Pininfarina was a master of design. Manzoni is just a disaster. Fire him right away!

Owned an F12 in HK and absolutely loved it - moved to the UAE and switched to the Huracan Evo- mainly for the sound and looks of course too - I didnt like the current Ferrari line up so much. 812 and 296 GTB do look great and sound decent- Revuelto hands down over the 12cilindri (although in the flesh the Ferrari may look better).
