EVO vs McLaren

McLarens look tits on the street, photos don't do it justice. The doors are pure sex and the paint looks good in sunlight like Lamborghini. Not a fan of the Deadpool-style headlights and the exhaust is meh. Depreciation is brutal with new models being released all the time immediately dating 2 or 3 year-old models. Quality control and lack of dealerships and dealership support seem to be it's Achilles' heel.

720 still sets the standard for speed, would also give it a 10.

I believe Reliability has improved compared to 650S and MP4-12C. Better reliability than 570S. Would give it more than a 5.

Resale still brutal, can get $100K off a low mileage, one year-old 720.

Anyhow, these are just opinions. How many of us own both a Huracan and 720? Not me.

Key difference is 720s spider has a carbon fiber monocoque providing unmatched structural rigidity while minimizing cowl shake. It is a performance beast and looks like a spaceship. It sounds mediocre and depreciates like a rock.

Instead of asking a bunch of strangers why dont you testdrive both and make your decision from that?

Thanks everyone. Your comments have been really helpful to me so far.

1. I currently drive a mid-engine RWD but I rarely push it hard enough to break traction (since my spirited driving is usually done on public roads). Good point though; I'm hoping my preference will be clearer after the test drive.

2. Looking to lease so not concerned about residuals or reliability as much. Covered or not, the less time it has to spend in the shop the better.

3. True. Hopefully test drive day will pull me in one direction. It's been a while since I've seen either of the cars in person.

With all that said, I am feeling slightly biased towards the Evo currently. This will be my first exotic ownership experience and I guess there's still part me that the badge appeals to. We'll see if the test drive changes anything.

Thanks again for the warm welcome :)
If you want to save some coin and since you live in Cali you should test the RWD EVO Spyder when it becomes available. It's substantially cheaper than the AWD Evo and then you'll be comparing RWD to RWD. I owned both the 610 and currently drive the 580 and coming from a background of RWD cars like the AMG GTS, GT3, California, 458 Spider have a preference for RWD dynamics. Also live in a nice climate so don't need the AWD.

How is a lease on a used 720 Spider going to work? I understand McLaren had some good lease deals for new existing inventory, you should ask what kind of deal you'd get with a used 720.

Will you testdrive the 600LT also?

RWD Evo Spyder would probably be perfect for me but idk if I can wait that long. It hasn't even been announced yet afaict.

Used 720? Not sure; both leases I'm looking at are new [2020] leases. If they have lease deals on used ones that are cheaper I'd entertain them but like I said, I'm leaning towards Evo for now.

600LT seems like a cool car but I never liked the design of the 570/600 line. I'm already going to have a tough time getting dealers to take me seriously (due to age) so I think I'll stick to testing the ones I'm actually considering.
Got it. 720s have a large initial depreciation which is why I was wondering if you were considering going low mileage one owner used. Post the lease details when you get the chance for the 720 and Evo.
