What was it doing before you got this code?

 

The car has close to 28,500 miles, and have 84% clutch life left. Was driving on strada cruising at 50mph then all of the sudden went into N and won't come out of it until I let it cool down for 15 mins then was able to drive back.

 

Sounds like classic Aventador e-Gear gremlins. If you’ve already swapped the battery, relay, and fluid, I’d take a hard look at the actuator or clutch position sensor—both can throw intermittent issues like this, especially when things heat up. Might also be worth checking the wiring harness for any hidden damage or loose connectors. These systems love to act up when they get hot.

I am always frightened when I read reports about Aventador gears problems, knowing that I am out of warranty… I read somewhere on this forum that some guys had to replace the whole gearbox because it was sometimes impossible to find the problem root cause…
So I am very interested if you can share your findings, @PaliTech !

 

It sounds like that you have an issue with the ASR/Egear shift control unit/Actuator. We can rebuild the actuator. Most of the times it's not the gearbox.

 

This may sound outlandish, but a brake light switch fixed my Murcielago when I encountered an intermittent E-gear/transmission fault and wouldn't engage a gear. Unfortunately, I don't recall the code/s.
It's a thirty dollar part available quickly from Audi and simple to swap out. Some of these switches are prone to failure. I keep a spare in the cubby behind my seat.
