How to replace the battery in your Lamborghini Gallardo. A little open heart surgery I did on the Gallardo.
1. Remove center divider and tool kits from trunk compartment.
2. Remove battery access panel. Use a flat head screwdriver (or a quarter) and turn the 2 plastic fasteners 180 deg. You may have to use a little pressure to pop the access panel off.
3. Remove the 4 allen bolts with a 4mm allen wrench. There are 2 on each side of the trunk.
4. Remove weather stripping from the trunk.
5. Remove the trunk compartment by lifting the trunk vertically. You will need to disconnect the trunk light once you have partially lifted the trunk from the car.
6. Remove the 2 allen bolts with a 6mm allen wrench and remove the plate that holds the battery in place. Pull the battery towards the front of the car. This will give you additional room to disconnect the battery. The ground (negative) terminal should be removed first.
7. Another very important thing to do is clean the ground cable going to the body and the ground itself. They are known to corrode and cause bad connection cause it’s aluminum frame on these cars. Then wipe on some dielectric grease which will keep corrosion away. See pic at bottom.
8. I replaced my battery with a Group 49 battery, this is a much larger battery than 04-07's, which have a Group 34 battery. Go with the bigger size as you'll have more cranking amps in this size.
9. Connect the new battery.
10. The Duracell battery I used (rated best buy from Consumer Reports) came from Sam's club, and has a 3 year free replacement warranty, which is awesome, $121.

The new battery has an indentation for the aluminum bracket that's in your car and fits perfectly with no modifications. Other batteries you have to bend the bracket to fit.
11. Insert the trunk and connect the trunk light. Fasten the 4 allen bolts.
12. Re-installing the weather stripping can be difficult people say. My trick, wipe dawn dish soap all along the bottom of the rubber seal. Took me only 10 min! Take your time, it will go back on!
13. Synchronize the remote controls. Put remote in ignition and turn to first click (do not start) and then hit unlock button for 2 seconds.
The battery installation only took me an hour maybe less. It was very easy for me and fun!
P.S. I don't have the cd changer but just helped another lambo owner that did. There are hidden screws on the side of the changer that need removed.
