The answer to the OP's question almost always depends on socio-economic status.

* Poor town = never leave car alone.
* Middleclass town = leave alone sometimes, only for short periods.
* Rich town = leave alone most times.

Poor people are usually poor because they lack self-control. They cannot control their mind or body. That means damage to your car. For example, selfying on a bonnet (hood) wearing jeans.

Middleclass people have more self-control of their body, but often struggle to control their mind. They can never quite control all their impulses. That means damage to your car. For example, parking right up alongside you in the supermarket (for reflected status) and dinging your door as they climb out.

Rich people are seething maniacs, like every one else. But they typically have much more self-control of their body and mind. That means less damage to your car. They may "hate" you or your car, but for local harmony, or status-signaling, they will normally stay well clear or respectful of the car.

Short answer -- avoid the poorer parts of town.

I still get a ton of attention, seeing a Gallardo is more rare than a Huracan or even an Aventador in my town. Never leave it alone though...too many idiots out there. Took it to breakfast once but within eyesight, parked far away from everyone but of course a giant truck parked right next to me even though there were dozens of empty spaces in all directions. Door dings are my fear more so than scratches as I have full body clear bra.

It is so annoying. I'm like you and many of us that park so far away with clear parking spots everywhere around us. Then someone parks right next to you.

This is so unbelievably politically incorrect that you would get stoned for saying it publicly, but it also is completely accurate at the same time!

The above solves all problem with peace of mind. Someone parks next to you, you get a text and can live view you car. This has given me total piece of mind.

I get nervous sometimes as my area doesn't have that many lambos out and about. I'm thinking about wrapping it but since it's gray I can sail buy and park and unless its broad daylight no one will notice. Wrapping it with a more bold color will make it way to easy to identify me lol.

I park in the more poor area of baltimore and never have these issues. Most of the time they typically guard my car out of respect. I get a lot of hate in other areas so I typically have to park far away just so someone grandmother doesn't park next to my car with their Prius or Camry

Some bad things happen everywhere. As i said it above i never leave my cars alone in public areas. It is not paranoia. I simply desire to know that my cars are still and will be in an excellent exterior condition.
