Rumor: Aventador Replacement/Huracan Replacement
Been a long time Lamborghini owner, visited the factory last year, and had a recent conversation with a dealer principal on what may be in the pipeline. With that said, I’d love to see the brand continue to innovate and differentiate from Ferrari and McLaren. Apparently Domenicali threatened to leave as the Volkswagen Group wanted to kill the V12, which he was adamantly against. Couple of new things I was told, anyone else heard anything similar???
Aventador Replacement: 1100 horsepower with a dual clutch! I think we all new it would be similar to a Sian setup with V12 powering the rear wheels only and the MIT developed supercapcitors powering the front wheels giving it an AWD setup. Aiming straight to compete with the Ferrari SF90.
Huracan Replacement: Full carbon fiber tub! Ditching the Huracan carbon/aluminum sub frame. V8 Twin Turbo with hybrid setup. Sadly, the V10 is most likely dead. No power estimates yet, but the suspicion is they move up significantly - expect north of the Aventador power.
Evo may function as a stop gap car similar to the F8 Tributo for Ferrari. Implying that the typical mid cycle refresh we all have known Lamborghini to do - think LP640 was to Murci, LP560 was to Gallardo, Aventador S and Huracan Evo may have shorter life cycles hence why the SVJ came so quickly and the newly developing STO for the Huracan. Likely will not be a Performante Evo is what they suspected as the line is going to heavily move to RWD Evo Coupes/Spyders and Huracan Evo STO’s down the road.
Volkswagen Group requires self funding primarily within the brand. Urus has been an enormous success and game changer for Lamborghini. This likely accelerates the time table for model replacements from the old formula of 10 year runs per platform with the 5 year in mid-cycle refresh.
