I'm with Djant yes, yes & no.

I suppose if you want the extra attention you could give it som revs at stop lights, but often times the revs are not appreciated by regular folks.

I find that people, most often younger guys will give me the sign to rev it up, and in that case I don't have a problem with it, in fact it is fun.

I agree with djantlive & Russk..yes, yes & no (trust me you don't need to rev at lights to get attention)!

On another note-some owners go WAY overboard by "over reving" in nuetral for several seconds (I experienced this on Sat. at a car show in a parking lot)...some say this is fine due to the rev limiter kickin in BUT with no (drivetrain) torque on an engine it is NEVER good for an engine over a period of time!

I'm NO mechanic BUT.... "I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express"!

Please elaborate on your thought??? I always thought RPM is RPM, does it matter if it is connected to drivetrain???? What is the difference for the engine if it is reving at 6500 RPM in neutral or in 3rd gear???

I remember when I was just a kid and Dad taught me never to free rev an engine. He told me without it being under a load that I could float the valves. I still don't quite understand that but I hate free reving my engine it just doesn't feel right.

I don't think free revving hurts the engine as long as it's under the redline and isn't long enough to overheat the car, being that the car isn't moving/cooling.

However, I think it is pretty silly. Something that Harley guys would enjoy.
