Default Would co-owning a Lambo with another enthusiast work?

Hi there. New member here and first post. On Christmas day I took a small break from family time and went for a drive. I stopped at a Ferrari dealership near me and they had a Huracan just sitting out there for sale on the used car lot and at the time I didn’t know much about them but the car was just so striking and it evoked an emotion that I’ve never experienced even though I’ve been her car enthusiast for years. I mostly follow the Porsche world.

The idea of doing a car “timeshare” has appealed to me but I’ve never seriously looked into it and not sure what all is entailed. It seems like a car like the Huracán would be a perfect candidate. It would require 2 people who live in the same area and who are someone like-minded who could agree on sharing all the costs such as purchase price, insurance, maintenance, etc.

I would assume neither of the two people would be wanting the car as a daily driver and would either swap time in it on a biweekly or monthly basis or whatever would work for them mostly based on how convenient it is to swap the car. But this allows two people to enjoy the supercar experience yet dramatically cut their costs down especially as far as depreciation goes.

I’m sure there are some pitfalls to this that I haven’t considered which is why I brought up the topic and wanted to see what this forum thinks of my idea. Cheers

I think it may be fun at the beginning but a pain after a period of time. Little scratches and dings I would notice and would annoy the crap out of me.
Other areas as well but I will let others chime in.
It’s a no from me. I couldn’t share one.

Well....
there is that one week a month that ....

Seriously though, the problems of shared exotic ownership, far outweigh the benefits. Mileage, driving style, repair costs, etc. would make it a potential nightmare. That doesn’t even take into consideration if there is a marital failure in a shared car.

That would be "swapping". Sharing just means other guy does your wife

I'm fully aware of all the valid concerns raised above (and more), but mine is a dissenting vote.

So most partnerships fail...marriages for sure, but I believe most business partnerships as well, which this is, just with different considerations.

That being said, I share a wakeboarding boat with a good friend, and boats are notoriously higher costing maintenance wise compared to a well maintained Lambo. Parked at his house on a lake, and we both use it whenever we want, often together but often not. Neither of us are spendthrift nor overly frugal. We split storage, cleaning, winterizing, repair (torn upholstery, stereo, mechanical) etc. Top it off after every use and cover it up.

I also have a business partner of 14 years, and was married 19 years. I have clients who share homes (primary residences with common areas as well as vacation properties) . Partnerships can definitely work very well. I never shared my wife, but there are certainly people who do (share their wives, not mine) :/

It does need to be extremely thought through and agreements put in place and understood, particularly how to unwind it. Likemindedness is required for upkeep, cleaning, usage (track, driving in rain/snow), etc.

For me, if either partner gets a rock chip in the PPF, you replace it, unless the damage goes through the paint, then you discuss agreeable action and cost sharing, if any.

To me partnerships and relationships ARE life. Not all people are good partners, so don't partner with them. lol

This could start a brand new thread... yikes.

My vote would be no as well. I want to be the only one riding my bull.
