Default Possibly buying, but engine tap.

Hey everyone. I went to see a huracan today with 50k miles. I took a look at the service paperwork and the tech noted "Slight engine valve tap noise. "Scheduled annual services were recommended and declined by the client. Tech unable to tell grade or quality of oil in the engine."

I then took the car for a test drive and definitely heard the tap. How worried should I be that there could be something major wrong with the car, and is there anything I can do to cover my ass that I'm not thinking of? Calling Lamborghih tomorrow to see if I can purchase an extended warranty, but was just told it unlikely because i'd have to bring in the car first for a 112 point inspection first.

Appreciate any help.

My concern is what services were declined.

Valve tap is often a sign of low-ish oil. Not to a dangerous level, but still will make sound when the oil is low.

Anything and everything is negotiable. If the price is right to help you absorb the risk, Iíd say go for it. A good PPI should sort exactly what youíll be looking at.

All things are fixable, but itís just a matter of if youíre willing to deal with anything or if you should wait for a different car.

Private party or dealer? Think - noise has to be fixed or you're not interested and convey to the selling party.

If you are handy with tools and get it cheap enough. That tap should knock a lot off.

Valve noise shouldn't be a problem. I think the car has been sitting in a lot for a long time.

The noise should go away after full oil change and some driving.

The one that you should be worried about is the metal to metal sound from the engine.

Injectors also are pretty loud on this car.

Emergency brake worn to 30%?? Wheel liner burned most likely due to burnout?? Who does that??

I would bet the tapping is due to smacking the rev limiter often and NOT taking proper care of the car...

Car has been used and abused...not something I would go near for a second...not even for a substantial discount. Who knows what else will surface over time, due to neglect and abuse...

My question is, how can you do a burn out in a car that's all wheel drive? Car Carfax shown it has an accident, so I was wondering if the linner burn was from possibly catching fire in an accident?

Too much "history" and unknowns. Personally, I'd run like the wind.

Yes and a very fast wind. Think gale force.
