Default Difference between OEM race and sport exhaust - Click here

I sold a OEM race exhaust to a local customer and upon arrival we cut it open to see what the difference was between race and sport.

-Secondary cats are present in both version
-Cell count is the same
-Number of perforation on the inner tubes was the same
-Baffles / partisan same
-Only difference was that the race exhaust did not have any insulation in the center chamber.
-So in theory the Race exhaust uses less materials to manufacture
-Published weight savings are inflated also
-10k to 12k upgrade... go figure that one out

Attached is a pic of the sport exhaust showing the presence of insulation.

Good post.

Looks like the good old Lambo Tax...

Are the two exhausts made of the same metals?

Sure does sound different though. I replaced my Sport with Race and sounds like a different car

Thank you so much for this information! Is there a way to remove the insulation on the center chamber on stock without having to cut it off in half?

That is surprising, the difference in the sound was huge.

I have an extra sport exhaust sitting which I think is the cheapest in the country. Might make sense for me to convert it to a RACE exhaust, can I somehow take it apart and put back together ? Lol

No that is not possible. However I will say that you don't need to follow the way we cut it. You can make a cut only in the center section in order to remove the insulation.

Any muffler shop will be able to do it, if you take the exhaust to them.

The insulation is very dense and tightly packed so the sound is muffled.
