Will be fascinating to witness.

In the long-term, the sun burns out and life as we all know it morphs into something else. Even the all mighty cockroaches era ends.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, when does this go down? In this environment, the politicians ARE invincible. We all know what needs to, but will never happen: term-limits, politician salaries set to the national average wage, and "normal" politician benefits (medicare, social security, etc).

We've given the government so much power, and continue ( as a country) to look to the politicians to fix the problems they create to sustain and justify their very lavish existence. I agree, the war is lost. Enjoy your wealth while you can. They (the government) have plans for it and are coming to get it. Hey, no one gets out alive anyway right?

There are substances that can survive anything…

this bacteria can survive deep space for three years…

I believe there are other substances that can survive much longer

I believe @AngelOfMurci will substantially outlive us all. Our best chance as a species. :)

Proper Kudos deserved on your "Easy money" thread. Truly amazing and well done. One of the very few (only) to put their money where their opinions are, out for all to see.

Economic catastrophe aside, I expect the market to bottom in April +/- 45 days, about 3-4 months before the economy bottoms. Nonetheless, I don't have your stones to go all-in. It's just an opinion after all. I'm happy to be 50% stock at the moment, and have been all year, waiting for the opportunity of the next 50 years to present itself. Hard to be patient, but working relatively well so far.

Live long and prosper!

I got my azz handed to me when I first got into the stock market. I cannot learn from my mistakes, unless I’m honest with myself. I realized way back then, that if I offer an opinion… I better back those up by action. Irrelevant of which stock forum I was on, I’ve always posted my buys and sells and the reasoning behind them. It allows me to look back and determine what worked and what didn’t.

Case in point. Despite me shutting down my activity in the markets this past year, I made 10 full trades. I made money on all of them. I didn’t make as much as I normally would, as it’s hard to hold onto positions in a negative market. Fortunately I did have a position from 3 years ago that I was able to sell today, that offset some of this years gains.

my plan for 2023 is to get to a 50% cash 50% stock ratio by June.

I think china’s reversal on its covid policy is a massive move. They will soon be using western vaccines. The other piece of the puzzle is the Ukrainian war. Both sides are yapping about a truce. At least they’re chastising each other about it. The huffing and puffing will ultimately bring a quasi resolution. Will help global energy constraints.

We've been in a recession for some time now, someone announcing it shouldn't make much a difference. Lots of news already "baked" into the market
Businesses big and small are now starting to drain their balance sheets… since that routine is limited in scope, the next thing will be massive layoffs. Spending and GDP once again will get hit. The cycle is hard to break out of.

baked in?

the only thing baked is Biden’s administration. They still think this inflation is transitory!! Lmao!

their jr. cabinet members, whose only credentials are blogging on TikTok, are trying to get the definition of what a recession is changed.

jeez, with massive layoffs still on the horizon, how are we going to feed, educate and house the 5 million immigrants that have just crossed our southern border?

hint: raise TAXES

Very astute observations everyone. I also believe we may be witnessing the fall of the American empire. Back in College, (1980ish) I made a prediction: If we give the vote to everyone and get enough people on the government payroll, there will be a large enough voting block for the govt to elect itself. This has occurred and getting worse. The fundamental problem is that a large portion of the population is either living completely or partially off the government. They will always vote on things and candidates that will give them more. The real solution is to only allow people that are earning an income and not being largely subsidized by the Government to vote. The exception should be social security for those that worked their whole life and are getting back a little of what they paid in. That is not freeloading. We paid into the system with the promise it would be there when we retired.
I also think the budget was a joke. It is the biggest pork barrel in history. Spend (Waste) 1.7 trillion and dont even read what was in the bill. We are doomed to crash and burn in a big way if the idiots in Washington dont wake up soon.
I bought 90 acres, have my own gas well and lots of equipment. If it tanks, I can pull back. grow food and defend my turf.
There is cliff out there. I just dont know where the edge lies. 40 trillion, 45 trillion? The edge will be the point where we can no longer fund the debt. Once returns on T bills get high enough and the interest carry on the debt plus the budget overwhelms the system, it will all crash down. Interest on the debt alone is probably over a trillion a year right now. With a trillion dollar deficit it will keep climbing until the whole system collapses. It is not doomsaying. It is reality. Scary but very likely.

JPow can just print, no worries. 2023 is going to be the biggest market rally we’ve ever seen. 😅
I’m counting on it, but just in case I have temporarily dumped most of my money into short term Treasuries.

Unfortunately, the majority of the people seem to want to live this way as they keep voting these knuckleheads back in 😩
My nieces are college educated… YET they have no clue how our societal ills are a manifestation of government’s overreach.

Just two days ago, my niece told the other niece to claim her $10k from Biden.

I asked them where they think the $10k comes from. They shrugged their shoulders.

I explained is was coming from the pockets of 50% of US citizens that pay taxes. They then realized it was wrong, but hey… take it while you can.

I then had to explain that Biden’s giveaway was just an illegal stunt to buy votes. I asked if Trump decided to give gun touting bible thumpers $10k for their debt, would it be OK? Of course not. Only Congress controls the appropriations of taxes. Not a President nor a social conscious.

our society will continue to flounder until our higher education, EDUCATES people on how the branches of government are supposed to work. More importantly, educate people about the Constitution of the US of A.

God bless Murika!

Angel, from your lips to God’s ears. However, conservatives long ago lost the upper hand because they were too busy with real jobs while the left-wing went into social proselytizing in the education department and entertainment.
