Performante vs Cayenne GT

Not looking good at all for the Urus. The Urus P is a lighter car with more power, it should not be losing here! It’s also newer car, they had time to tune it up to make it beat Cayenne GT Turbo and be able to easily beat BMW not barely.

What y’all think - Driver was slow? Car not broken in? 23 inch making it that much slower? Urus just a slower car?

Test drove the UPerf the other day (I have a deposit on one). Kind of felt underwhelmed with the experience especially considering the $$$. I was expecting better engine note (I'm sure it sounds louder outside but inside the cabin I found no real difference from the standard) and steering still too light with minimal feedback.

Overall I think Lambo did not do enough to the make the Perf or S special or class leading. When the Urus came years ago it was the only "Super SUV" but as demonstrated from the video the ICE competitors have caught up and even gone beyond (in a drag race anyway). 16 Horsepower more than outgoing model that was released almost 5 years ago is not going to make a discernible difference regardless of carbon hood.

The 911 and the Huracan are different cars. There is no "easy way" to just upgrade the Huracan / Aventador to be faster than the very new 992 Turbo S.

The Cayenne Turbo GT and Urus on the other hand both use the same VW MLB Evo platform and a turbo charged enginge. In this case it would have been easy and very cheap for Lambo to get more power out of the Urus. It is the most expensive SUV in the VW Group through all their brands, so it puzzles me why they would accept such a ****ty performance from it.

I think the only explanation is EU homologations, which just don't allow for more power or other changes to the current Urus series.
But instead of settling for just a regular Facelift (named Urus S) they wanted to milk it anyways and for that they released a second version, changed it by 1% and gave it an already established name: Performante. Easy 30k (+ the savings on the air-suspension).

I will drive the S and Perf next week and after that i might change my mind, but for right now i have to say the Urus Perf is a bad deal. There is just no rational way (besides going on the track with an SUV) to defend what Lambo did here and i think more and more people will realise that and it will decrese the value of the car (and the Performante badge) over time.

And i bet they could have achieved the same record with the Urus S ..

There just wasn't any need for the Urus Performante in addition to the S. But when they release both, then they have to make a distinction between them, and that they didn't do (enough).

(And that's just the issue regarding lamborghini internally .. the other issue of being worse than the competition is on top of that)

The point I was trying to make was the 0-60 times across the H variants are very similar, same with the A so did we really expect the S/Perf to take a massive leap forward in terms of straight line performance? Lambo has made it clear they're not interesting in improving or chasing 0-60 times.

@Huracaan Urus was bragged as the fastest SUV when it came out. Not comparing to Tesla. ICE SUVs only.
Lambo knew everyone expected its Performante to be beating current ICE SUVs. I did and everyone I know did too.

Just look at it, more power and less weight it barely beat heavy BMW SUV and Cayenne GT Turbo completely destroyed it. That just looks bad!!!

VW updated Porsche with better turbos and other things. Also it launches much better too. Next year or two Porsche will have a facelift and that distance will get even bigger.

That was back in 2018, a lot has changed. And read the article below and you're understand why Lambo has given up chasing 0-60 times...

And like I posted above the U Perf wasn't marketed as the fastest ICE SUV. Lambo never mentioned that nor did they mention 0-60 times. They did however talk about been the best handling SUV so again I don't see why all the outrage.

You're going to be disappointed with the brand moving forward if you're hell bent about 0-60 times because it doesn't seem like that's the brands focus anymore.

Again deep inside we all know we expected Urus P to be faster.
Now we just finding an explanation why it did not!

It is still best looking SUV imo and I will buy it for that. Let others be faster in straights line, corners or any other test. Lambo knows they will sell them so why bother making it much faster in straight line.

If Cayenne Turbo GT beats it on a track, which I think is very possible we will then hear statements like Urus P was not focusing on track either.

No matter what happens, I am and will continue to be a Lamborghini brand loyalist. I was buying the facelifted Urus no matter the performance because of the following reasons...
1. Design
2. Sound
3. Depreciation is at a minimum and values stay strong (for now)
4. Brand Loyalty

I agree with @Jr Mint in regards to flooring it anywhere I go, just dangerous and irresponsible on public roads. But I completely understand why a lot of people care about performance because we all want Lamborghini to be at the top of the list in terms of performance, desirability, speed, brand recognition, design and exclusivity. Was I a little disappointed? Yes, because VAG has the tech and resources to greatly improve the Urus and keep it at the top of the Super Suv category. Btw, I know there are Porsche fans here and I understand why, its a great car all around. But Lamborghini should outdo Porsche in every aspect in every single automotive measurement.

At the end of the day, all of us in this chat love Lamborghini and only want the Brand to be the best. I'm sure that's at least one thing we can all agree on :ROFLMAO:

Well said! We all love Lamborghini and we absolutely would love to see them win in acceleration tests and any other comparisons.

You right VAG has resources but for some reason they decided to not update Urus as much as they have done with Posche Cayenne. Probably assuming that Urus will be sold out anyway hence make more margin per car.

I have a 2015 Huracan 610 and a 2022 STO and have owned numerous exotics and muscle cars back in the day.. I have never found horsepower in a large car to be the least bit exciting and handling isn't too thrilling either. Adding "performance" to a big car seems like a waste and is detrimental to ride and noise level. Obviously, most here will disagree. That said the Urus looks cool!
