Great question and I am curious about what solutions are offered. Didn't have my sound system challenged 2021 EVO long enough but I understand completely why you are asking the question. In my 2022 EVO order I opted to spec the upgraded sound system, Sensonum.

Thanks my friend, actually I ordered a RWD coupe. I will definitely let you know how the Sensonum stacks up. I had a 2019 580-2 and the sound system was decent but the base system in the EVO was disappointing. Though, the sound system in the EVO did improve a bit as the speakers broke-in but not enough to suit my tastes.
Congratulations on your 2022! What is the ETA?

I tried numerous things on my Sto, what worked the best for me without any additional Amps was to find a speaker that was not requiring too high wattage but not a cheap
Low wattage speaker. After my third set I found the focal speaker to be the best with good sound, mounting depth, clarity, and loudness. Either the older model iss200 or the newer isu200 model focal speaker set will do just right. They come with a 8inch set of midrange speaker and a set of tweeters. Take out the cheap paper speakers. Install these. Ahhh happy ears. The speakers in the door are a 8inch midrange and you can either modify the current speaker, gut the speaker and mount the new speaker inside, which I did on one, or order a set of Vw speaker adapters on eBay for 8inch.

Btw. Make sure to utilize the cross over on the tweeter. As the factory tweeter also has a passive crossover on the tweeter itself. You will blow the tweeter to pieces literally if you do not use the passive crossover, small inline. Lol. I learned this the hard way. Lol

Also the factory door speaker is 4ohm and the tweeter is 8ohm which makes the tweeter very quiet stock. The focal is 4ohm both tweeter and midrange. Making the tweeter slightly louder and matched very well with the door speaker. And the overall clarity and loudness is much improved.!

Sorry to blow up the thread, but the reason why the base system doesn鈥檛 sound good. Pull out the speaker and look. 20watt paper speaker. But this might also be due to no additional amp and just being powered off the infotainment system which may not have a lot of output. Hence why trying that perfect balance in speaker choice seemed key.
