I have a lp560 in metallic black and was curious as to what I would need to get a good detail, clay bars for the wax, tire dressing, etc. Its something I want to do for more of meditation purposes and was curious what products would be good to use and that would not wear down on the leather interior etc. Any help you guys can give would be great!

Any clay kit at auto supply store will do. Follow instructions and never rub into the paint. Let the soapy water and clay do the work.

If your car is in good condition, hand polish and wax is sufficient. I order my stuff online when it comes to polish and wax. I like zaino bro but there are plenty of good products out there. Detailer domain is a good source on products. Meguire has good "ultimate pre wax polish" that works well on light swirls for darker cars and tail light lenses. I use scratch x from McGuire on medium to light scratches and scuff.

I use zaino for leather protectant too since it has uv protection and a great leather smell. Lexol from auto supply store is also great.

Zaino is fabulous! Their leather care smells better than the leather!

The clay bar is mainly used to remove surface defects from the paint (like tree sap) and is one of the methods to create a smooth/slick finish, and we follow clay bar application with a machine polish (Menzerna PO106FA) and wax, to create a defect free finish with maximum depth. You don't want to apply any pressure on the clay bar with the lubricant, as the clay itself will pick up the contaminants, and the clay bar can introduce light scratches on the clear coat when rubbing the contaminants against the paint. Fold the clay bar over itself constantly, to keep the trash inside, and immediately discard the bar if you drop it. If you maintain your paint, you won't see too much need to use it.

A two bucket wash method with grit guard is encouraged, and make sure you have plenty of lather to help carry away the dirt from the paint. A black paintjob is the most unforgiving, so extra care needs to be taken when touching the paint (washing and drying). Here at the shop, we use a blower to dry the cars after washing, and follow up with a finishing spray/microfiber combo to remove the last bit of water.

I'm partial to the Pinnacle Souveran and Wolfgang Fuzion waxes, and we do machine polishing when necessary on our shop car, to create a defect free finish. We aren't too keen on using tire dressing, as it will fling off and stick to the paint, so if we apply any, it's very light, and it is wiped off completely afterwards, just to give the sidewall that newer look.

We have heard great things about Leatherique, but we haven't used it yet, so I can't comment on it. I would recommend doing a test spot regardless of what you decide, as the dyes may react differently.

Here are a few links to the products we recommend:

Grit Guard:
Professional Grit Guard, grit guard insert, car wash grid

Fuzion Wax (sometimes on sale for under $100):
Wolfgang Fuzion Estate Car Wax contains real carnauba wax and paint sealant polymers to protect paint. ultimate show car wax, auto wax, paste wax,

Menzerna Polish for use with a buffer, if you have the experience to do it:
Menzerna Nano Polish, Mernzerna 106FF, Menzerna po106, Mernzerna polish

There are a ton of detail oriented sites, that should help you achieve the results you are looking for. Good luck!

I have used Griot's products for many years on all of my cars with a lot of success. I have a Nero Noctis -- and black is very unforgiving in terms of dirt! Haven't had problems with any of their tire dressings "flinging" onto other surfaces (they have three or four options). Since I have a Spyder, I am cautious with soap on the top. Also, I use a "Master Blaster" (high velocity blower) -- even has a warm air option -- to avoid a lot of wipedown. It does a great job getting water out of the engine cover louvers...also the wheels/calipers.
Email Todd Ccoperider with Esoteric Auto Detail in New Albany Ohio. He is the black paint master. He did my Ferrari Scuderia, it is on their home page.

He is now using, after wash and clay of course, Rupes polisher with Scholls concept compounds and a Meguiar's micro fiber cutting pad. After that he uses different polishes with a foam white pad, like Sonax perfect finish.

He is really cool and answers questions from people all over the world. He is on Facebook too.

Todd is the messiah of car detailing...absolutely the best. He is affiliated with the website Detailed Image where he'll answer questions and post reviews of products. Flies all over the country doing private collections. One of his partners DJ Mayo is geographically closer to me and came and did my Lambo. These guys are unbelievable with correcting imperfections in clear coats.
I had my Lambo detailed once and it was a horrible job. I made it a point to learn how to do it myself. I went here: We Are Car Care -- Car Wax, Car Polish, Auto Detailing Supplies, Car Buffers & Car Accessories Store and read thread after thread and finally tried it myself (on my DD of course). After some trial and error I got it right. I now do it myself and love the results.
One suggestion, if you are going to detail your car yourself, get a "scissor lift" at least. I have the Diablo Roadster clay barred and detailed at Driven Exotics right before "Monterey Car Week" Then the rest of the ear I just "do her myself" - its quite relaxing- but I have a scissor lift so I can do her wheels, inside and out, and the rest of her without hurting my knees and back. Most, no, check that, everyone, thinks my Roadster is almost brand new, not a 70,000 Km car!
Griots..... For all your car detailing needs.
I am going to do another round of Zaino this weekend on my car. Will post before and after pictures.
After reading all these, my question is this... My LP640 front end, front quarters, side air dams, bat wings and rear bumper are all wrapped in clear bra. What do you do for that? Is it treated like paint or should a person treat that differently?
May depend on the type of film, but I have all my cars wrapped and was told to treat it no differently than the non wrapped surfaces. Make sure your gentle near the edges of the clear wrap of course. When I had the Lamborghini professionally done, they tapped off all of those edges.
For some detailing tips, have a look at Larry from AMMO NYC. He´s a nice guy, has more knowledge of detailing than anybody I know and does good YouTube videos. This is his channel: AMMO NYC - YouTube
