Scissor door mod to Gallardo

I am sure this must have been thrown around on this board before, but I have not seen it. I am guessing that a scissor door modification to a Gallardo is considered a mistake and will hurt the value of the car? Otherwise, I am not seeing why this wouldn't be done more often. I have seen people put scissor doors on all types of cars, I even saw someone just post a picture of this mod put on a Honda Civic or something equally as odd, of which that post was just a joke, but just saying. Has anyone done this? Or is this considered sacreligous?

Vertical car door conversion kits are not a popular G-Car modification. Kits tend to make the doors wobble when raised and lowered.

A Vertical door kit installed on a Gallardo makes the door flimsy.

Look at the vertical doors on Murci and you will see they are solidly constructed and go straight up and down.

Lastly, there are many other mods you can do to the G-Car that will give you a greater return on your investment.

Scissor doors are cool because they move in one direction, up. With aftermarket kits, the door opens out, then up, followed by a persistent wiggling at the top of the motion. Looks silly.

I for one, don't mind disappointing people with my regular door. Except kids, they get really disappointed...

Ha! This is the truth. I was at a car show last summer when 3 boys in that 10 - 12 year old range came up to the car with jaws dropping. This was the first Lamborghini they had ever seen (I live in rural northern Minnesota) and they wanted me to open the doors for them. I had to explain to them that this cars doesn't have the scissors doors and as I did you could see the disappointment in their faces. I wanted to climb into my shoe. My brother (Viper owner) was parked next to me at the show. He was quick to jump in and say that the scissors doors were reserved for the "real" Lambo's. He always has my back like that. :D

gallardo isn't designed for flip up doors

to modify it, you can either cut up fender and door OR use a system that opens door side-to-side first and then push up.

both solutions are just stupid and for poseurs

i saw the second system in person with a horrible body kit and wheels.

scissor doors should be functional instead of for looks IMO. they aren't that great to be honest. you have to bow down to get in.
