Luckily it was at a red light just turning green and the truck behind me “forgot” I was in front of him. The bad news is that there’s roughly $40k in damages (parts and labor), and it’s an Avio, limited to 250 built. My question is, I need to find an appraiser so I can file a diminished value claim. When I do sell the car, I want to be 100% transparent to the buyer and expect to take a hit on the value.

I have a lot of pics of the damage and the body shop is Lamborghini certified, no repairs were done, all damaged parts are replaced. I’m in the Denver area, we do have Lamborghini Denver and I haven’t asked yet but I wonder if they would give an appraisal for the diminished value.

I've had a similar situation with my old mclaren. What insurance does the person have? The lady that bumped me had state farm and getting diminished value from them was a little tough even with my attorney involved. The appraiser said I was devalued about $22kish and we settled with state farm for about 14k. It wasn't worth the court costs and such for me to keep pushing it, but that will vary by situation I guess. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, I have State Farm and they are the ones currently paying for the repairs, the truck that hit me has EMC property and casualty, it’s an insurance company for businesses because it was a company truck that hit me. I’m glad to hear you at least got something as long it was somewhat reasonable to the value you lost.

Curious to know if the 40k is more heavily weighted towards the parts or the labor? Photos honestly don't look too bad but if the only way to repair is to replace entire body panels, then that will do it..

I also have State Farm and I've heard similar stories where they are very hard to deal with and almost always try to pay out minimums, more so than other insurers. Makes me think..

It’s $25k in parts, Lamborghini gets a premium for their parts (as they should), the drivers side taillight alone is $2800, rear bumper grille is $5k, upper and lower bumpers are $5k each. Damage so far doesn’t seem to bad, but we’ll see when all bumper covers are off, thankfully the car mechanically seems 100%, no lights, no leaks, starts and drives just as it should. Was either hoping for low damage or complete total.

I have a general question about how best to navigate the implications of a post accident CarFax, that is, when the insurance claim is settled will there be compensation over and above the repair costs to offset the diminished resale value?
OP, also sorry to hear about your mishap, better fortune going forward!

I remeber talking with a Lambo tech and he said you can't touch up matte colors, you have to repaint the whole car. Are they planning on a whole car repaint?

Albert it depends on your state, your insurer, and the circumstances of the accident. Ask me how I know…
I was the victim of a hit and run in my S class and had to file on my carrier’s uninsured motorist coverage. In that scenario with Allstate in Texas, the insurer will allow you to file a diminished value claim. Allstate’s policy was that if I had filed under my comprehensive/collision, no DV would have been allowed. In that instance you have to consider litigation. I still had to hire a claims specialist and pay him a 30percent contingency for him to negotiate and close the transaction. I’d negotiate a Smaller percentage with a larger value, as in this case.

Update: thankfully it was such low speed, nothing structural or mechanical damage after taking the bumpers off. Unfortunately, parts are back ordered through Lamborghini another 2 weeks. The rear carrier panel that protects the overall structure of the rear is undamaged, I would still like to have the car completely inspected mechanically through my local dealer so that will happen after body work is complete. I’ll also keep everyone informed on the diminished value process in the unfortunate case someone else has to go through this process.

I was also looking at OEM parts, Supercar parts are crazy expensive, the Performante wing is $18k from Lamborghini, I’d love to get though!
