Hey guys, I'm finding myself looking at Gallardos again. I found this 2009 example with 17,000 miles and in one of my favorite colors, Verde Ithaca. It's also got aftermarket upgrades, including Apple carplay, lowering springs, wheel spacers, a full XPEL Wrap, and a Capristo exhaust. From the photos the interior looks pretty good. Asking $135,000.

The only weird thing is that it's been sitting on the "dealer" lot since August 2020. I looked at the dealer's website and this guy typically sells cars under 10k, so it doesn't leave me with the best impression. Probably a one-man shop if I had to guess. Carfax is good though. https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=amg_1&vin=zhwgu54tx9la08553

Any thoughts?

I dont get a really good vibe from this listing. To start, there's not nearly enough pictures of this car. I would be looking for a lot more pictures of the interior, pics of all four wheels, etc. Look at any listing from an authorized Lamborghini dealer like Lambo Newport Beach and you'll see what I'm talking about. A clean carfax doesn't necessarily mean much to me. From what I can tell, you can have it scrubbed for a fee if there was an "error" with a car that had an accident lol.

Take a look at the pic in the parking garage with what looks like a black Huracan pulling up in the background. Looks like someone launched a car and left skids behind the Gallardo. Do we know if it was the Gallardo that left the skids or if it was there before? It could be innocent but we dont know if the dealer is using this car to beat on then sell later down the line. If anything it shows that he has some wild friends if they left the marks haha.

Are there any maintenance records? With a car like this I would absolutely want service records to make sure it was maintained. Getting a PPI, egear snap test, etc would also be extremely important. Granted, this could be an awesome car that checks all of your boxes...but I would use everything you have at your disposal to negotiate it down. Just my $0.02 :D

Wow, great observation! I'm under the impression that it's a "one-man" shop where the owner bought it for himself, had some fun with it, and now wants to move on. Yes, I agree that it's poorly marketed and maybe that explains why it's been sitting for a while. Who knows.

I would definitely get a PPI on this from Lambo Seattle. But price wise, $135k seems reasonable to you assuming the PPI checks out?

$135k seems reasonable but there's definitely negotiating room in there. I wouldn't be worried about mileage (my car has 20k on the clock) but I would use that in negotiations since its a "higher mileage exotic". Assuming the PPI checks out and it doesn't need a new clutch, major service, etc then it could be the perfect car for you!

Some of the pics are from BJ Motors, look up and you'll see it's in Texas (2nd owner). I might suspect the third owner could be The Car Outlet owner using it as his own personal car there for awhile... not really trying hard to sell it. Who knows, maybe now he's moved on to a Huracan and therefore more aggressive on the sale now ?? I don't see any obvious red flags other than the price (are they going back up again), if there's not any of the supporting evidence GreyFox referred to....
According the the Cargurus listing, it was originally listed for $139k back in Sep 2020, then down to $129k in Dec 2020, went back up to $139k in Mar 2021, and as of Apr 2021 dropped down to its current price of $135k.
Get a proper PPI and if you get a comfortable price then go with it. Really you never can know what a car has been through over a 10+ year lifespan. Just look at it for what it is now and go with it. There are certainly things that can go wrong (as with any car) but these Audis — I mean Lamborghinis — are not really that “exotic” once you look under the gorgeous body panels.

Pass, pics from bj motors are always a red flag to me, almost always a scam. Too expensive of a car to play games with a dealer on, not worth the hassle. Just look into the cnc motors debacle ongoing to see what kind of mess you could get in, assuming this dealer even has the car.

This car is in my Backyard. Its the Dealer owners OWN CAR he drives daily. I have seen the car as he wanted to sell it to us a few months ago.
I offered him $1050K. We had a FULL PPI done on it prior to our offer. I would be happy to share it with you. Just email me your request

I think it "looks" beautiful, but to me that price is high

What do you mean by REAL car?

I believe he means that it exists IRL, at that dealer, not just a fake listing using someone else’s pictures. Everyone is cautious about fake ads due to all the scammers.

I inquired on this back in December 2020. It is the owner's son's personal car. Seems like he's not in a rush to sell, just waiting for the right offer since its been on the market so long. This was one of the contenders I was looking at before I found my final edition. His Instagram isn't too difficult to find if you try to look.

Yeah, that would explain a lot. In these situations, half of the time the seller isn't even all that serious. They just want to put a feeler out there and see what happens. Not worth anyone's time playing little games with these kinds of people... PASS.

Gotcha. I thought he meant it's been driven and abused...

You guys are sounding like corvette owners. Who cares? Cars are meant to be used.

Get a PPI. If it comes back clean, great. Doesnt matter who owns it or what it has been used for. Get a PPI. If its in good shape, thats all that matters.

Don't get me wrong, I drive my car like I stole it (I don't do burnouts though lol). Some owners want a car that was babied but I'm fine with one that's had some miles as long as it wasn't abused or improperly maintained. Different strokes for different folks I guess

I think there's a fine line between using the car and abusing the car. If you're doing donuts, powerslides, and burnouts every weekend, chances are you'll have maintenance bills up to your derrière one day. Maybe the car is able to take all that abuse, but why take the chance if you don't have to?
I promise you, the car can take that abuse.

Even if it cant, though, a PPI will be all you need. If its in good shape, its in good shape.
