Hello Gang,

I am looking into picking up a 2016 Huracan 610-4 from Rhode Island. Car isn't driven in snow or during winter but that is stated by the owner. I am going to view the car this coming Friday. Car is currently getting its annual service at dealer who states they will look over the car and let me know any issues or they can charge me $450ish to perform a PPI. I am debating on having them do PPI or have it taken to third party? Any suggestions..

Just make sure you pay for the PPI. Would you be using the same dealer? Should be fine if it’s a lambo dealer

Unlikely to be many major issues with a 2016 Huracan (very reliable). But probably best-practice to get it PPIed by an independent third-party. Someone who has no skin in the game with buyer, dealer, servicer, or seller. Pick a Lambo or supercar specialist, not a generalist.

As long as the dealer doing the PPI isn't the same one selling you the H, you should be good to go using the dealer for inspection.

Car is coming from private party and dealer doing the service is Boston Lambo...I can't find a third party shop in rhode Island who can do a PPI so any suggestions will be great or should i stick to the boston lambo

honestly the biggest concern I have is to see if any rust on the car from being driven in snow if he drove it in snow. according to him its parked in temp controlled garage entire winter.

My personal opinion, is if that dealer is "looking" at the car, you're fine to have them do a formal PPI, but ensure that you pay for the PPI and get the actual paperwork.

The point of the PPI is not only to ensure that you're not getting a lemon of a vehicle, but also have a reputable shop essentially "put their head on the chopping block." If something was wrong and they didn't catch it, you now have recourse for liability. Whoever you choose to have do the PPI, I would just want to ensure that they are reputable, and have a lasting presence in the community. If Boston Lambo gets it wrong on the PPI, they have the resources and presence to do what it takes (presumably) to make things right.

Whoever you go to, ensure that you get the full paperwork from them with them signing off that the vehicle "passes" all applicable tests. Don't just take someones word for it, get the paperwork!!!!

Is there certain PPI standards or guidelines that are followed as compared to Porsche which basically has a checklist for ppi’s

I would use the dealer in your situation. Most indecent PPI inspections will not know what to look for if they are not a Lamborghini specialist. They will do the usual, paint, body, suspension wear etc etc.

Apart from the regular stuff that goes into a PPI tell the dealer to give you more insight on the following

- How many times launch control has been used
- Documented service his by Lamborghini
- If the car has mag ride, check all the 4 shock for light misting on mar ride fluid on the shock body
- Excessive ticking noise at idle from the injectors. Some cars had this issue and the rail and injectors had to be replaced.

Why not get both? Its a small outlay fora big investment

If the car is being serviced by the dealer and you have a set of complete maintenance records, I would review the records for abuse, and dealer recommendations Get the PPI for peace of mind.

Better to spend money and find out it is rubbish than to not spend and buy the car that is rubbish. Once you purchase and it has problems, you will be up for a lot more money in repairs.

You should be fine with any Lamborghini dealer. I would be somewhat careful dealing with a dealer that is connected to the car or buyer, just because there can be some influence on the results of the PPI. Good luck!
I believe if this were the case, and the authorized dealer engaged in such tactics, that would be a fairly clear case of fraudulent inducement. If any dealer is that stupid......
