I'm wondering why there is not more effort to protect the paint when these cars are shipped . My car needs to be worked over pretty good to make it perfect. I'll admit i'm a little OCD about this , but seriously.
Why can they be wrapped in plastic or something for shipping . Make it some sort of option that we pay for if necessary, would be better and cheaper in the long run.
I've ordered a coupe BMWs over the years and they have showed up in better condiction.
thoughts please . am i expecting too much

All my Lambos had bad paint from the factory. The worst paint was on my Perf which was so bad it took my dealer 2 days to sort it out. The cars are wrapped from the factory but the issue is QC at the factory.

During my factory tour I noticed the "paint specialists" were using cheap microfiber towels like the ones that come in a 20 pack from Walmart.and I don't think they know how to use the polishers because all my cars had crazy swirls. I guess they want dealers to sort out paint issues.

I had my detailer spend a week on my car removing all the fine swirl marks...it came out great but it was an effort

The darker colors really show the swirls. My Blu, Yellow and Green don’t show any swirls unless under a special light my Detailer uses.

I guess you are probably right but if you need special lights, a microscope and electron microscopy..........meh, not me. ;) All kidding aside, the paint on the EVO looked pretty decent at delivery.

It could be a dealership thing...maybe some prepare them better than others?

Just be glad you car didn't arrive with a giant respray circle on the hood :( At least with swirls you can bring to good detailer and get fixed. I ended up getting a replacement car ordered, but lambo was zero help it all was thanks to my exceptional dealer.

My detailers told me that Astons have the best paint. Apparently the DBS (last gen) has 50 man hours at factory to perfect the paint

Wow do you have a pic for the paint defect? I’m in a similar boat where I just took delivery of my EVO RWD today (had it shipped straight to a PPF shop), and my detailer told me there’s very noticeable discoloration in a giant circle shape on the frunk lid.

I did have a defect in my new 2RS frunk hood and the dealership sent a detailer to the PPF installers shop to correct it but my agreement with the Porsche dealership is that if that didn't work they were going to replace the CF frunk hood. One thing and I don't know how significant the defect is in your hood (pictures?) will they have to go through clear coat to correct? If they do I would want a new hood and I would start those discussions now. Plus if you do need a new hood then request the dealership cover the cost to have that part re-PPFed.

Summary Porsche: 1. Dealership sent a detailer to correct it at their expense, 2. they were willing to change the frunk hood if unsuccessful, 3. plus they were willing to cover the cost of re-PPFing the hood if we went that route.

I’m still waiting to hear back from my detailer about whether it’s been repainted (they’ll have to borrow a paint thickness gauge from a nearby paint shop). Honestly I didn’t even notice it until detailer told me about it, and now I can’t unsee it! It’s most noticeable in pictures under direct sunlight.
Here are some pictures.
