My scissors lift does not allow use of extended arms that is required on the rear (inboard) on the Murci. I believe a bridge will work on the lift, but the manufacturer does not make them.

I did trace the oil leak to the green fluid /e-gear. The reservoir was low, so I topped it up. I then achieved neutral and first. After bleeding the e-gear (side of trans three screws) I can get up to 4th with the key on, engine not running. Therefore, I believe that the problem is a leak, most likely the accumulator as failure.

I will not repair this at this point. I am working with a few others on getting rid of the e-gear once and for all with a change to manual 6 speed. Once removed, I will sell the e-gear (when repaired and sorted). Always a market for a $15-20,000 bit. I will stay on this thread to advise on my progress. To say it cannot be done, is incorrect and is not as complicated as thought (all of our combined thinking.... may live to regret it!!

I have a manual 03 and I yearn to convert my 07 LP640 to match.

You'll need a shifter assembly and a pedal box.
Do you have a source?

Generic parts should work for the slave and master cylinder. Pick a throwout bearing to match.
I believe the eGear shifter mounting bracket can be modified.
These guys had to build a custom shifter linkage, getting the length right looks involved:

Ultimately, the challenge seems to be getting the ECU to play along. They gave up on that.

I’m confident that the E-Gear to 6 speed manual conversion can be done, it wouldn’t be in Lamborghini’s best interest to make the two versions of the car very different. Not to say that it won’t take some work and resources.

I'm confident that it can be mechanically converted, assuming you have a shifter and pedal box. And if you don't, I imagine those parts can be cloned.

The real question is: Can you get the ECU to play along?
To my knowledge, no one has succeeded in reusing the factory eGear ECU. They either bought a factory manual ECU or went entirely aftermarket.

Hey Stimpy...you may be on to the solution to the headache. Once done, after getting the costs for the new OEM parts from Lambo plant at $61,000 (they included the $38,000 for the transmission replacement for some reason) the carbon fiber option is looking much better.
ow is a list of parts I could come up with that I'd imagine you would need for the conversion. Again, since we haven't done something like this in house, I don't have the exact list of parts needed.

Forgive my ignorance but where is the shifter assembly in that parts list?
And the assenbly that connects the shifter to the trans?

I see a new throw out bearing, clutch, and pedal but where's the stuff that connects them? Master cylinder, slave cylinder, hydraulic lines?
And speaking of the clutch pedal, I do not believe you can just bolt that pedal on to an eGear. I believe you need a whole new pedal box.

I am seeing values for OEM 6 speed Murcies selling for nearly $1MM!!!! Assuming that the value of a conversion is $50-70,000 on the very high side......why not? Much more enjoyment and, no doubt ROI is months, not years and is very, very attractive with resell.

That said, is that why the Lambo factory is hesitating on supplying the assistance? I am personally very disappointed in the factory response. They should be pleased to work with us and see that we are future Lambo buyers and supporters.

I know most Ferraris see a significant value add from a manual conversion but there's no guarantee that translates to Lamborghinis.


US manual LP Gallardos are almost as rare as manual LP Murcis. When one pops up it sells fast and for at least twice the price of a comparable eGear.

I bring up Gallardos because there are several shops that have done manual conversions, factory computer and all. And we've seen some of those cars go up for sale: they sell slow and they struggle to recoup the cost of the conversion.

For me, the most damning example was a twin turboed, manual converted Verde Ithaca LP Gallardo, being sold by the shop that built it, lingering on the market for months even after they dropped their asking price to 160.

The manual conversion made the car hard to sell and seemingly hurt the sale price. The same may be true of LP Murci conversions.

I still look forward to converting my 07 Roadster to stick, like my 03 Coupe. But I'm under no allusion that it is adding resale value.
