Trust you are all keeping well through these difficult times we are all facing - it has become quite a nightmare!

I am currently in the market, started of looking for a huracan performante but then decided it has to be the V12 aventador S, until I done some calculations today on the aventador S and noticed that after 12 months of ownership and resale it would cost me 5k for a service, 5k for warranty, and 10k depreciation with the miles I would put on it; I have been advised by the dealers the best car is the huracan Performante.

can you guys pls give me some input? I’ve had many supercars but this is the first lambo. I have driven the aventador S and I think it’s manic, the V12 just outweighs the single clutch element and I don’t think the single clutch is as bad as everyone says, but everyone has their own preference I suppose.

Any input / advice would be appreciated.

Hello Harry sounds like you have a fun dilemma to confront. I know the Huracan whether a base or the Performante are pretty solid cars with a near bullet proof engines. I will let those with some experience with the Aventador S chime in. There are many helpful and knowledgeable people on his forum that will no doubt provide you with some useful insight. Many thanks for your reply. I have been looking for a few months now, missed a few and gutted but I am in contact with a few Lamborghini showrooms who are really helping me and keeping an eye out, but there is hardly anything on the market.

Was really close to doing a deal with an aventador S but the owner decided to change his mind and keep it gerrrer! But still torn between perf or aventador S.

I hear you the market is real tight all around the world so it probably will take a little time to find just the right car but hang tough something will pop up when you least expect it. I guess people went a tad car crazy with the COVID lock downs and the preowned and new car markets have been on fire. I like the base Huracan but I imagine either the Performante or the Aventador S would be next level. I went up the food chain with Porsche in a short period of time from a new 2018 Cayman S to a new 2019 GT3-RS and then to a new 2018 GT2-RS and although the GT cars were real good I did't feel they were that much better than my lowly 4-banger the 718 Cayman S at least not to the extent that would justify the cost differential. So I intend to stay with the base Huracan which is a blast, accelerates insanely, and is plenty fast enough to get me in all the trouble I can handle. Then there is the sound oh the sound of that 10-cylinder masterpiece. As you already probably know or will soon come to find out the Lamborghini is the best of both worlds with German engineering and Italian design. Best wishes, and of course, enjoy the hunt!

Not an expert on the Aventador but in the Ferrari world the V12's always depreciate more steeply than the V8's even taking into account their much higher MSRP. I would agree with the dealers that the HP will cost less if you're only planning to own for 12 months.

Having owned 2 H's and using as a daily driver, IMO the HP will be an easier daily. The AVS is a big car, pretty wide and the rear visibility may be worse than the HP.

That being said if you really want the AVS and settle for the HP, there is a significant probability you will end up regretting the decision. I suppose you could always sell the HP as it's likely easier to go from the HP to the AVS then the other way around.

$5 k for 12 month of service? How do you get there? I'm guessing that's high. $1k oil change max right? Is the avs still under warranty? I imagine the performante and the avs have completely different driving experiences. Buy what you want!
