I think it's great...just more evolution in the automotive sector.

While at the dentist today, he mentioned that if he didn't have 4 kids he could have owned a Lambo. I didn't mention that I have one, instead I simply smiled and enjoyed the conversation about cars.

I can't count how many times I have been in various circles where folks talk about wanting to own a Lambo. I don't use it as an opportunity to let them know I have one, rather I just smile inside because I was there at one point in time and now one sits in the garage.

Cheers!

Paper-racers will rejoice. True driving enthusiasts will shrug. While I've been a fan of Teslas since the roadster days, and while the numbers are impressive, it looses everything that makes a supercar... well... super.

Put it this way...

Catch my drift?

For day to day transport, a Tesla will soon be hard to beat. For a driving experience, there is no substitute for the originals. Lamborghini.
LMAO

What a great analogy

A friend is a drag racer enthusiast. I mentioned the Tesla to him as the car that will wipe the floor with any current car available for that purpose. His response." But I really like and need the engine noise".
I once test drove the BMW i8 that has a tiny 3 cyl engine combined with eMotors. They simulate a bigger engine sound through the loudspeakers. The same could be used in the Tesla. But honestly, it sounds crap and unreal.

Yeah, what’s better and safer than a totally quiet 1.9 sec car zooming on your neighborhood street. Lol

I love it. This is exactly what I have been saying Tesla needs. They have opened the door to a whole new segment with this "exotic" and will add a whole new customer demographic. Dont ge tme wrong, I love my lambo, but this is what I have been waiting to see from Tesla.

Handing over $50K for a car that will not be available in all likelihood for 4 more years is totally unacceptable and much better spent investing in Nvidia or Apple.

In the meantime, I will be more than thrilled to continue driving my H.

I wouldn't get to hyped up about this car. The way Tesla is going right now they'll be lucky to still be in business by 2020. I read an article about a hedge fund manager that shorted the stock. I guess the model 3 costs $48k to produce but they are starting it off at $35k. If that's true they are going to be in a lot of trouble. Apparently they had the same issue with their suv. A couple months after it came out raised the base price on it then a few months after that got rid of the base model all together and the end result was a car that was 30% higher cost than they initially claimed. Add in their current QC issues, and production issues it's not hard to see why they have a cash issue. Right now they are riding on hype but eventually that hype will run out and they better have the cash on hand to stay in business. Seems like Elon Must is promising a lot of stuff right now but not delivering on any of it.

So yea the car sounds great but I wouldn't put a deposit down on this car with the history they have of missing deadlines and the amount of cash they need.

To be on the list requires a $50000 US deposit for a base model and a staggering $250000 US for a Founder's Edition model.

Musk is clearly using his customers to finance this project.
That's kind of what I was thinking. I don't even know if the deposits are being used to finance the roadster as much as they are just to get an influx of some cash. My question would be if you put a deposit down and the company goes under what happens to your deposit, I'm sure there would be a long list of creditors way ahead of john doe who put down money for a car. It would be different if the guy would actually deliver on some of his promises and the company wasn't needing cash after every big announcement.

I do think the future is EV but I get the sense that Tesla is holding out carrots to keep the consumer coming back for more...maybe try and come through on all those Tesla 3's that have deposits on first, then come to us with your latest and greatest dream car/truck...
Im not convinced....

Sounds to me like they are selling the car to people that may be interested in setting land speed records of some sort and getting good gas mileage while you do it.

Other than that, it’s a convertible with a prehistoric top operation. Ha! Ha!

There was a time when 0-60 was one of the most important things to me. Then I got my bottom wiped by stock GTR whICH I thought at the time was an ugly bugger. I guess for full disclosure I should add to the GTR list, a corvette, a freaking Suburu and an ordinary 911. That was in my 08 Gallardo I should mention.

THAT WAS WHEN I DECIDED I would rather be sexy than fast. Now we not only have those menacing GTRs, this new roadster and of course the 720. I have given into the fact that Lamborghini is not going to catch either of those last 2. So I will remain LOUD and beautiful until we go electric.
