Has anyone every mistaken your Lamborghini for another type of Vehicle?? I got off early today and took advantage of the nice weather to go for a spin and while at a gas station, I had a car pull in and say to me.....

"OH WOW..........I CAN"T BELIEVE YOU HAVE A FORD GT"

I literally looked like this.......

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else before?

At that point, I would have just hit the man and walked away. ;)
But really, at least have thrown some pocket change at him for a college education.

My car always get mistaken for a Ferrari.

Paith,
Just wondering, is the Diablo yours or your father's? I'm just getting confused with all the posts you've posted on different websites.

Hi Brandon,

I wouldn't let it worry me. I think it's a sign of a latent exotic car
enthusiast!

I used to have something similar happen all the time, many years ago,
when I had a 308GT4 series I F-car. Those of you who remember the early
models of that car may recall that it had no F-car badging on it at all.
It had Dino badging up front instead of the Prancing Horse, and had
Dino 308GT4 in longhand script on the back. Believe me, people had NO
idea what it was! So I used to get this all the time and frankly, people
had a good excuse. So this made me more open in dealing with it.

What I soon learned, was that 99% of the people
were genuinely enjoying the car but were just ignorant of what it was.
So I used to take the time to educate these people, and frankly I
enjoyed it. Kind of an excuse to share the passion and maybe ignite it
in someone else ! A very few however came from a jealous angle, trying
to piss you off. You can usually tell. I decided early, not give them an excuse
to dislike Lambos or their owners/enthusiasts. They have played their
hand and taken the dark road. I let them go down that road alone.

If they've taken the time to approach you, they may be a latent enthusiast
that you can ignite the passion in !

A 6.0 Diablo is one of the sexiest things around. So if someone has
the latent ability to appreciate such a thing, but has just not cultivated
that talent, your presence near them is going to be firing their recognizers
like crazy ! I would think it's amusing actually, as we all went through the
same thing, and enjoy going through it for each new design that we see
and appreciate.

Oh I wasn't mean to the guy or anything and I did explain to him what it was.......but I just thought it was funny mistaking a Lamborghini for a Ford GT. And from your point of view, it makes sense.......someone who isn't nearly as educated in these cars as you and I would probably NOT know exactly what car it was.

When I told him it was a Lamborghini, his first words then were(and probably most peoples)......."Is it a fake?"

I showed him the engine and well ;)

he was a nice guy though, took some pictures on his camera phone!
