Maintenance costs on new Lambo's?

112378 Views 43 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  diablosv
I've spent some time in Scottsdale Lamborghini as I'm here on holidays. I've gotta admit, I've always been a Ferrari fan but both the Murci's and the Gallardo's have lines that keep me up at night. Aside from the obvious, what type of costs due you typically incur for yearly maintenace? Is there a schedule that needs to be followed? Are you paying a couple hundred dollars/hr for a suggested program?

Thanks in advance

If I'm not mistaken, my dealer charges $125 and hour. An oil change cost aroung $400. Major service at 15k mile interval is around $4k. Clutch could be than around $5k. Other than those, the car is pretty much bulletproof. Of course, I'm talking about the Diablo, Murci and the G-car could be similar.
Actually I was wondering the same question. How much would I have to spent on a Diablo 6.0 in canadian dollars a year on maintaince with no major repairs? Just want to have my finanice straight before buying one.

What are the "major" items? :confused:The price for the clutch is reasonable but why whoud it need to be replaced so soon?

Lambo, for a VERY LONG TIME has put weak clutches in the cars to avoid the possibility of trany warranty issues.

I don't get that...they don't have that much power that a clutch couldn't be built for it. And shouldn't they be able to have a stong enough tranny for the stock power??
Try reading slowly with your thinking cap on!!!

If a Clutch blows when the the power is poured on and NEVER the trans....then the Manufacturer never has warranty liability!

Duhhhh!

I'm not dissing the car I'm asking a legit question...a clutch doesn't just blow! And why doesn't it have the holding power for the hp of the car????
I hate to sound too cynical, but I just sold (unloaded) my 2002 Murcielago with 8,400 miles and I am not convinced that all of the mechanicals are what they should be. Here's a link to my story with this Murcielago. It's one story - it may be a bad example and not representative, but do your research and know what to expect before you commit your cash.

Hey, sorry to beat a dead horse - I just realized you guys talked about this on the other thread.
I agree with the bad service comment, but also believe the product is mechanically flawed on several levels - clutch, lift/suspension, and electronic switches to name the obvious. Gallardo's stories exist here too. At $300K - there is no excuse - I don't care if it is the same with Ferraris and Z06"s - there is no excuse for parts to fail repeatedly and consistantly over a number of years and the manufacturer not address them. Thousands of dollars of anual repairs/maintenance is not acceptable.

I've explained it to you all I'm going to! It's all there!

You didn't explain anything, you made an excuse for it.
WHB,

you were a victim of unscruplous and predatory business practices and not the victim of a bad car imo.
Lager,

that's not an excuse, that's the deal, they put weak clutches in to protect their ass not yours, take it or leave it!
But why can't a tranny be put in to handle 500hp or 600hp?

If that's the reason...ok...at least I know...it doesn't make sense to me though.

That's exactly what the first thought was...my point exactly...it has nothing to do with a tranny, that's an excuse. Glad that's clear.
