The gallardo has a dry sump system so I would def look up the proper method of filling oil. Many tutorials online.

DO NOT JUST FILL OIL in the reservoir. That is very decieveing, the level of oil in the reserve tank. So just a FYI.

Typically oil light would come on when you're low 2-3 qts if I recall. Might wanna use search function on this one.

You should be checking your oil on these cars every time you fill up with gas. These engines burn oil, it is normal. The owners manual sets forth the procedure for properly checking the oil. If your low oil light is coming on, you may have already done irrepairable damage to the engine. Keeping proper oil levels is probably the most important, and the easiest, item of normal maintenance on any vehicle, but especially these.

This.

By the time the oil-light comes on for the G, it is already too late in most cases.

OP may already have damaged the engine. The dry-sump starves it of oil if not topped up.

Strongly recommend the OP gets it checked by a dealer or indy specialist, even just as a precaution. Don't drive or start it. Could save thousands.

Know someone who runs a supercar garage in the UK. He reckons roughly 8 in 10 of major Lambo engine failures are caused simply because the owner did not keep the oil topped up.

Oil light is not necessarily an indicator of low oil LEVELS, rather low oil PRESSURE. Your problem may be caused by a number of things, and simply adding oil may not resolve the issue.

Check the oil level (properly), and add oil if needed (...properly). If you are still having intermittent oil pressure issues, I would have a Lambo tech verify that the oil pump is working properly. As the car ages, it may be susceptible to continued oil pressure issues that may best be remedied by simply using a slightly heavier weight oil.

As others have said, however, do not drive the car until you have further diagnosed the true issue.
