Just picked up an 06 Gallardo Spyder. Does anyone know if there is lightweight flywheel available for the car ? My 430 revs much more freely than the G. Porsche GT3 and GT3RS has factory lightweight flywheel and after market flywheels are available for Porsches. Would like to find same for my new ride.

You might be surprised at how light the stock flywheel already is, there honestly isn't enough material to take out. The shortened life span of an aluminum flywheel with a steel face isn't worth the trade off.

There are a lot of other variables involved that are affecting the engine's tendency to rev. The most accessible being the electronic throttle control.

So an ECU tune will help in the car reving more freely ? I have already ordered a set of 200 cell cats to be installed but I don't think that affects the car reving more freely ?

F430 is a short stroke large bore 4.3 liter engine. Gallardo is a long stroke smaller bore engine.

The f430 will want to rev quicker in neutral but not any faster in gear unless it has one of the following done to the stock car.
1- more power than a gallardo
Or
2-an altered gear ratio.

The reason for this is the f430 has very similar gear ratios compared to the gallardo with a bit less power in my experience so it definitely isnt reving faster when your driving the car unless you consider that you have a light weight f430 compared to a heavier gallardo which may seem like the f430 is faster because of it's power-to-weight ratio.

The 430 is a V8 and smaller. ;)

And the flywheel is already TINY!!!

I was talking to some clutch guys and they had tried lightening up the flywheel and they had problems with the car stalling.

Moment of enertia. It's the force within the rotating assembly which help move the vehicle. The weight of the clutch and flywheel are large part of that. A software tune will help some, the rate of repsonse between the gas pedal and throttle plates will be improved and the air/fuel ratio will be modified which assists slightly with engine response.

I agree with Josh 100%. A Gallardo flywheel is very light. A Gallardo flywheel weighs 10 Lbs less than a Murcielago flywheel. It weighs somewhere around 10 lbs. A 430 flywheel is about 1 lb lighter than a Gallardo flywheel.

If you use a lighter flywheel, your driveabilty will suffer a lot. It makes it more difficult to take off at a red light.
