So this movie has been really bugging me. If I was going to make a Lamborghini movie, here is what I would do.
My Lamborghini books tell a way better story.
-Lamborghini was educated in engineering. He was know as a mechanical wizard that could fix anything in his military unit. Great story about how he modified his commander's car. When the guy drove it, the brakes failed and he would up in the ocean. After the war he was sent home to a devastated Italy. At the family farm, he saw there were no tractors to do the farm work. Ferruccio married his sweetheart and on his honeymoon, he stumbled across an auction for retired military vehicles. One story says he bid on the trucks and took them home to modify into tractors. Second story is that he gathered some buddies together and they went at night and stole them. A great tractor era story tells of how he would challenge any tractor to a pulling competition at farmer's markets. The building of the tractor empire is full of opportunities.
-His racing career ended when he crashed his modified Fiat through the wall of a pub. He finished the race drinking.
-The Ferrari snub has been told many ways. Most common snub story is that Enzo kept Ferruccio waiting for 3 or 4 hours in his office. When he finally saw him, he said "You don't know anything about building cars. Go back to your tractors."
-The Lamborghini GTV is a great story. Ferruccio designed the styling of the GTV. They built it in a corner of the Tractor factory. They didn't finish on time. They had to fill the engine bay with bricks to make it sit right. The engine was on a stand and could not actually fit into the car. The styling was highly criticized. Ferruccio turned the styling job over to someone else and the car became the 350 GT. The 350 GT was Incredibly well received.
-The Miura was a pet project of his young team. Ferruccio had little, or nothing, to do with it. He liked the idea and let his team continue to develop it. The chassis with engine were presented at Geneva. It created so much buzz, they hired Bertone to deign a body for it and put it in production. The initial cars had a lot of bugs, and development could be a fun story to tell.
-Countach was created near the end of Ferruccio's involvement of the company. A great story in itself.
-A disaster with the tractor division caused him financial troubles and strikes at the factory soured his enthusiasm. He sold out and faded away from cars to a life of wine making.
So much there to make a better movie. Could have focused on the rivalry between him and Ferrari. Exaggerated the snub. Showed the two headstrong factory owners locked in a battle for superiority in the exotic car market. Just when Ferrari looks to be catching them, Lamborghini jumps ahead with a new innovation.
If you want a drama, you could show the conflict between success of the work life, and the deterioration of the family life.
Anyway, when I become a famous film maker, look for my Lamborghini movie
