Fellow Lamborghini-evangelists
I've been lurking on the forum for a while, always looking for some insights on all things Lamborghini. My previous cars here in Switzerland, before this SL, were of the other Italian brand, but modestly noteworthy nonetheless. For me, it all started with a red gated manual Ferrari F360 Spider. After this, I moved on (or up?) to a black 458. Both awesome cars and super reliable.
I came across a very nice LP570-4 Superleggera in Grigio Telesto (if I am not mistaken - do correct me on the color if I am wrong). I even posted a question on the forum before purchasing it as I felt the shifts between 2nd and 3rd or 4th and 5th gear were somewhat "kicky" - see topic here.
I had the car checked at our local Lamborghini dealership this week - a small PPI if you will. My main worries were the transmission (and possibly the clutch, although I sourced somebody who could replace it for a reasonable price [around $7000, including bearing, which, over here, is a good price]. The results came back very positive, hence why I pulled the trigger.
Same car. No natural lights. Paint mismatch less visible, yet still present.

- Clutch wear at 1.5mm (which, according to the dealer, equates to 80% residual life).
- Transmission seemed fine (the Lamborghini mechanic did a test drive).
- Current (winter) tires are new (the car was driven during winter times here in Switzerland).
- Exactly 30.000km (18.641 miles)
- The hood/front trunk was once repainted previously. We tested all panels with a paint thickness gauge and the frunk (front trunk) gave a value of 400 micron. That, however, was not the main giveaway. If you look at pictures of the car one can clearly see a paint color mismatch between the front hood and the rest of the car, although this is less visible in the dark. The left front fender has a slight stone chip in it. My approach would be to repaint both the left and right front fenders, as well as the hood. The bumper is actually in great condition. I would also have the front of the car (and A-pillars + exterior mirrors) wrapped in PPF.
- In addition, there is a relatively deep scratch in the clear coat on the roof [sorry, no pics - will follow]. I do not think this can be buffed and polished out. Most likely, the entire roof will need to be repainted.
- The left rear and right rear window seals are slightly scratched on the outside. The local Lamborghini dealership quoted me an astonishingly high price for the replacement windows including seals. Apparently the seals are not sold separate and one has to buy the entire window assembly with seal. Is this correct? Does anybody have just the seals for sale? Eurospares [see part 6 in this link] also only has the entire window for sale, one for the "normal" market and one for the Mexico market. The question then is: what would be different on the Mexico market version, and, more importantly, why is this version so much cheaper?
- All four rims have a slight bit of curb rash. In addition, and here is also a question: these Scorpius wheels are high gloss black. Did these ever come on the Superleggera, or only on the Super Trofeo Stradale (as indicated here: source)
- The interior carbon has some slight surface scratches and paint chips in the clear coat, carbon still in perfect condition. Does anybody have experience refinishing this, i.e. sanding and respraying the clear coat? This would be my approach.
- The Superleggera sticker/decals on both sides are relatively worn on the outer edges [no pics - will follow up]. I found these Side Stripe Decal Stickers on eBay. Has anybody used these or are there better ones available?
- Does anybody have experience mounting the original four-point harness as an aftermarket option? My SL did not come with this option and I would like to know how these are installed. Source: Eurospares has these for sale [see part 38 and 39] and the diagram looks like the bottom restraints bolt into the floor but the rear/top ones bolt into the firewall (?) despite also being illustrated having ring bolts.
