I am looking at a 1994 Diablo Vt with 21,000 miles. The car is at the Chekqured flag in Marina Del Rey California. I found it on Collecter car trader.com. There asking price is 96,500 plus tax and license. The car is red with black interior.

I talked to a well known Lambo dealer today and he informed me that was alot of miles for a Diablo. He said even though the price was low I might have to dump alot of money into the car to get it right. He also said the market was very thin for hi-mileage Diablos and that If I bought the car and decided to sell it I would have a hard time getting a buyer. He suggested I would be better off buying a lower mileage car so if I decided to put on miles I could still sell it when I was done having my fun with it. Since I am new to the market I would appreciate If you fellas could give me your opinion on what this dealer told me and Opinions on how to find a good car and what to look for. He also Informed me to stay away from some unscupulous dealers but I won't mention there names on this forum do to legal reasons.

If 21,000 miles is nothing why did the Lambo dealer act like the car had a million miles?

What JR is saying is if the car was taken care of 21K is nothing. What do the service records show? And have it inspected before buying, if something needs fixing you can use that as leverage on the price.

What type of scheduled maintenance do these cars need? What are the cars weak points? Are parts available? Is the secondary market as slim as what the dealer is saying? How much does a good PPI cost? Would you use an Independant or a authorized garage?

I saw it last night and thought the same thing. Cheap buy it now price. I would run the VIN via carfax, then pass it around here. Maybe someone used to own it.
When you see a 94 going for the price of a 5000qv, no matter how many miles, I would second guess it.
Could be nothing at all though. But I tell you this much, at that price, it would be fun to grab that as a second Diablo for the track!

37,000 Killometers, 21,000 miles, must have reported it both ways.

Right - I'm sure thats what happened.... The older Diablos where only in Kilometers and the smog check guy entered the 37,363 reading into the CA database which is all done in miles. Obviously if thats what happened it will need to be fixed otherwise carfax will probably end up with a rollback notation at some point.

Still, after the conversion we have 23,216 miles noted some 13 months ago.. still higher than the 21,000 we see today.

even with some unexplained mileage issues....21K or even 23K miles on a car like these is NOTHING..if the price is right and the PPI comes back clean....

Lamborghini Engines & transmisions have been some of the most Bullet Proof in existance!!

Yes these cars can and do have their own set of issues, but cetianly no more so than any other 5-10-20 yr old exotic and certianly fewer than some!

My car currently has over 32000 miles on it now and runs better than it ever has.I wouldnt worry about the miles as long as the carfax and PPI checks out.

My '94 has about the same mileage, and it runs like a dream. I agree with the others...it all hinges on the service history and how the previous owners treated it. Mine was owned by a couple who had 2 previous Lambo's, and they cared for the car like it was their child.

As most of you know I am new here. So I'll be asking some maybe "dumb or obvious questions". Here is my first such question. What is "PPI"?
