From Audi:
The Le Mans quattro, which is expected to be sold in the United States, would be an image booster for Audi. It would give the German brand a challenger to the Porsche 911 in the premium coupe and roadster segment.

The concept car was shown at the Frankfurt auto show in September. It is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo architecture.

But the build quality of the Gallardo is unsatisfactory for an Audi, a source close to the project said.

No surprise as Audi try's to steal Lamborghini's thunder to boost their own image. Another example of car makers cross breeding their own models to create mix breed commodities. ie: Ford, which has destroyed Jaguar with ho hum models built with Ford components.

Audi = up to no good!

Well the lemans has been talked about a lot here already. So its nothing new. I think press comments like "But the build quality of the Gallardo is unsatisfactory for an Audi, a source close to the project said" Are just rumour mongering and don't make any sense considering Audi's plans to sell their car at well under the list price of the Gallardo.

I think the finish is generally very good. I don't think an Audi engineer designed the ashtray though... ;)

Oh mmh,

You don't really mean to tell me that you use the ash tray..... what about the lovely natural ambience that comes from the smell of the leather?

I could never smoke in the car anyway - I've set it up so that pressing the cigar lighter blows the fuse in radar unit / laser jammer - makes for a real neat and discrete disable function if "anyone" should get too inquisitive!

No, I've never used the ashtray for its intended purpose. Don't tell anyone, but I sometimes keep $10 in there for emergencies, so I do use it sometimes.

I like the trick with the lighter. Very neat! :)
