Huracan pricing bubble

127289 Views 2890 Replies 105 Participants Last post by  Huracaan
I don’t know about anyone else, but these prices are getting out of control. Evos with 5k+ mileage asking for 350k plus?? Performantes in the high 300 low 400 range? 610s approaching 300? At some point this has to relax a little. I’m just some old guy venting that when he finally has enough to purchase the cars that the asking price keeps getting higher and higher.

46 Huracans now on autotrader
6 Huracans on Car Gurus
Total 52 cars

Cheapest 250, 260, 270K
5 Evo's listed at 478K+

Only dealers buying them it seems, customers not interested.
Theres 136 Huracans on cars.com and almost 30% (28.7 to be exact) have had price reductions recently. The pricing bubble will collapse in less than 6 months as Technica becomes the latest/greatest.

600LT’s Spiders are almost in the high 100k’s…

I agree that the huracans may come down further as well as ALL Mclarens but the 600LT spiders are mostly all over 260k currently except some high mile examples?
That's why I said "almost". They've been creeping down week over week for a while now...

That has me confused too
I checked and there is nothing lower than 230k
Again, almost. You guys seem to take some statistics as emergency alarms- it's just what the market is doing.

So what you’re saying is they all start in the 2’s?? 🤣🤣🤣
Technically, yes, for now...

Okay that does it. After all the claims, or fomenting if you will, I am convinced we are headed for a crash. I guess I will have pay someone to take my EVO off my hands............ :giggle:
Doubt that, unless you wreck it.

I see that there are 198 on cars.com. To keep it consistent on what we’re seeing, everyone make sure to search only “Lamborghini” “huracan” “nationwide distance from my zip” and no other filters. Unless you are going to break it down further, like model, drive type, convertible/coupe, etc..

USA Numbers:

cars.com = 198 Huracans
Cargurus = 368 Huracans (down from last week)
AutoTrader = 381 Huracans
I should have been clearer- there are 136 EVO's on cars.com. Gurus is likely the best place to look, I was just referencing cars.com as that's the stat I had in front of me.

Chicken butt.

It would be hard to let the EVO go, great car.
Entirely agreed, and I have yet to drive one!

Lol I love all the talk about the huracan being a “high volume car.” It has sold in its entire life like a week’s worth of Ford Explorers.

Why don’t we all calm down ….. it’s a Lamborghini. And that’s special and it always will be. Remember what Frank Sinatra said “You buy a Ferrari when you want to be somebody. You buy a Lamborghini when you are somebody.”

Congrats and godspeed to everyone who has the great fortune and privilege to have one. I hope you enjoy it in good health as I do, and I hope it never matters to you what’s it’s worth, because what it’s worth to you should be priceless.

Happy July 4th everyone, from the greatest country in the world!
I think the only people that need to calm down are the ones who think they bought an appreciating asset that has no limit to production. Every Huracan ordered will be made- they will loose value.

That's not what I've come to understand......I drove it off the lot put around 4K miles on it and getting offered over MSRP, and that's no fish story. :giggle:
Always exceptions to every rule. Last 18 months has been a fun ride for pricing.

600LT Spyders almost in the high 100k's... HUH.... these are the cheapest ones in the USofA. Nice try with your FUD
Damn to hell whoever invented that stupid acronym. It's just statistics- they've been creeping downward as of recent as there's less demand for them and the same thing will happen to other cars. It's not the end of the world.

Query: how many of the huracan haters in here don’t and can’t have one, and use this constant bashing as a sort of release for that obvious unhappiness?

I don’t care how many times anyone says it. Huracan is not high volume and a Lamborghini is a Lamborghini. I’ve never driven mine and had someone give me a sad look about the pathetic high volume car I’m driving.
High volume as in every single one ordered, will be produced. It's a volume product for Lamborghini. Also...

If you're happy with your car, why are you taking the discussion so personally? I haven't really seen anyone use the term to bash the car, but as a matter of fact to describe relative numbers and potential market movements that are affected by that fact. If this discussion irritates you so, then maybe it would be best to ignore this thread.
Some people just can't handle the fact that they may have made a bad call in terms of evaluating pricing.

If the pricing had skyrocketed just after purchase, they'd be thumping their tiny little chests in pride- but the tables are reversed? Oh boy, that must be someone who can't afford the car, or envious, or some other immature nonsense.

Every ordered car will never made. Not sure where you get your info, but many people, Including some on this forum have not been able to order one. Some have put a deposit down, but many won’t ever get a car. This is a fact. Another fact is that the cost of these cars will start to trend down.
Not that specific car, no, but an ordered car will be made as long as the platform is available.

Evo orders are getting converted to Technica orders, so no, in a technical sense, the original car won't be made but a Huracan will.

Charlotte Lamborghini is making things happen. ;)
We don’t know at what price. Sold != sold @ asking (at least not always)…

The only things that can really reliably be extrapolated is…
  • Time on market
  • For sale volume
  • Price reduction volume
  • Price reduction average amount
  • Price reduction frequency
Everything else is conjecture.

With vehicles like the STO that can be within their own bubble (that may never pop), it’s hard to say if it lends any reliable data at such low figures.

If you extrapolate beyond just the H, into other exotics- the pictures become clearer.

I forgot to mention the first year depreciation, which was higher than the average annual loss in value, but for the Huracan that was 13+% loss in the first year, based on the CG graph.

thank you sir.

Adding to the above important info… specifically for Evo’s.

It hasn’t even been two weeks and while the number of cars is down 7% (127 vs 136), the amount of recent discounts has risen significantly (28.7 vs 33%). Winner in this round is a car that got dropped $50k (375 to 325).

Let’s all keep in mind- asking price, actual sale price, etc is pointless to speculate upon as the reasons for a vehicle pull could be several, the sale vs asking price could be variable, etc.

If you bought a car already, great! If your looking for one, great! If you bought one assuming you’ll make money- that wasn’t a wise assumption.

A guy in my garage has a 1967 Mustang that is completely rebuilt by these guys:

Absolutely beautiful car but I think they cost around mid six figures to build.
For a quarter million dollars, you’d think it would text you if something happens to it.

:):):)

Canadian dealers are stubborn, prices haven't budged, so be it. 🤷‍♂️
That’s actually the best case scenario for a collosal collapse in price- new cars come out and start selling and suddenly these cars that are 3 years old have zero market interest.

For reference, update on numbers specific to Evo on Cars.com

132 for sale, and 44 with recent price reductions- it’s increased from the 28% a month ago to over 33% now. 14 under 300k.

It’s been a month… new numbers.

143 Evo’s on cars.com

An astounding 51 with recent price reductions, 35.6%. Some as high as $40k….

Come the winter and right before tax season, there will be great deals for those patient.

I think Cargurus does not show the prices at the previous dealer, but does state the days it’s been on the market. Let them do all their manipulation…..it does not work. STO pricing has only gone one way the last few months with no end in sight. When the fundamental demand is not there at these price levels, all the manipulation attempts will be futile.
Monkeying around with one cars price != market manipulation.

I just got my STO and still have my 2015 610 with a factory race exhaust. The 610 exhaust sound puts the STO to shame with its shotgun blast backfires and louder gurgles versus almost non-existent decel pops on the STO. I have seen people suggest that Lamborghini toned down the backfires as the years progressed with the Huracan.
Peoples need to have their vehicles sound like they’re breaking down and misfiring is such a confusing thing.

You want it to sounds like a poorly tuned race engine for the 50s?

I spoke with a few dealer friends over the past week and I didn't sense any panic or rush to start dumping cars. As one of my dealer friends put it, why would we start dumping when we have no new cars to sell? Lambo is basically sold out until 2024 and the only model you can order at the moment is the U which will be done by end of 2024 to make way for the hybrid model.

The AV replacement is probably a year away until we see customer cars and forget about buying one if you didn't provide a deposit years ago. And the H replacement wait list is probably at least a couple years deep.

It'll be very interesting how things play out. I still think prices will drop going into fall/winter but the bottom might not be as steep as some of us including myself thought it would be.
It’ll play out in the way that Lamborghini is one brand amongst 7. Interest wains quickly when other offerings are of better nature.

If Lamborghini was the only exotics maker out there, sure… but it’s not.

//edit

and for reference… there’s now 20 Evo’s under 300k on cars.com. A few weeks ago there was half that, and every day your friends wait is another day that they’ll statistically loose more dollars with. Which, I’m all for- the longer they wait the worse the reset will be.

The rich got richer during COVID and that money isn't going to evaporate. We're entering a new era for the Lamborghini brand and the days of these cars dropping like rocks are probably behind us.
looks at stock market over the last 6 months

Ehhhh, yeah- literally disappeared. Anyone who got rich through Covid already spent their money or watched their gains reced. That’s why more and more cars are getting cheaper, and housing has been leveling off for months.

To further add to your thoughts, this post below has gone viral and has created a huge buzz on social media (as you can see from this Instagram screenshot example I took off a semi-celebrity). Social media can overpower any analysts or logic and I think this may make dealers hold their ground for two more years.
I’m not sure I could consider Rick Ross’ baby mama a serious source of any kind of information, much less automotive production numbers... But hey, people still listen to Trump so anything is possible I suppose.

Name a better offering.
Literally any of the ones actually available…
