Huracán STO

So a few weeks ago my dealer told me about the Huracán Super Trofeo Omologato possibly being unveiled in August next year which should be the most hardcore street legal Huracan yet. It should get tech from the new Evo, be extremely light and also have 5 point harness racing seats. Also it will most likely be number-limited.

Does anyone on here have more information on this?

CarPlay is standard on STO right? I saw that it's part of functional pack on tecnica, but see no CarPlay option for STO.

It’s standard, but anti-theft system is not. Which is weird because that’s standard on my evo spyder and also on tecnica. It was not standard on Perf or older Evo or 610/580

ahh ok I specced the anti theft, crazy that’s it not standard. So without it there is no alarm at all?

Yeah crazy is correct lol. If you don’t have anti theft the car doesn’t make any sound when you lock it with the key fob. That’s a tell tell sign of a Huracan missing anti theft.

Has anyone been able to verify if the CCM-R brakes last longer than standard carbon ceramics with track use?

I cannot comment specifically to pccb or "non R" ceramics but compared to my Lotus Evora GT the pads last longer on the STO. However, they cost 12x's more for just a front set of pads iirc $4k. Even more for rear - $6k. If I were to go out on a limb with only a guess - I would say yes they last longer than standard ceramics. Pad price is prohibitively expensive. I do not note any rotor wear.

The rears do a lot of work for ESC/torque vectoring. Below is a random photo from the other day of my rear rotor and calipers.

I would be eager to get a hardcore racing braking setup with massive pads but I wonder how it would play with the esc designed specifically for this ccm'r setup and calipers.

And there is dust - in part as I understand the pad compounds have had to change due to environmental reasons. That's what I read on Rennlist - something to do with copper?

Is the infotainment system in this car really F'ked up. My service manager could not get it to work with my bluetooth and said it is actully a slightly different system than other Lambos. I had previously found it erratic, sometimes able to get it to work. He ended up suggesting I use corded car play. It doesn't help that there are multiple symbols that look like an ipod or iphone or that, using spotify, Siri will sometimes announce through the speakers that she is about to play music and then nothing happens. Or that start play buttons start nothing.
I this stupidity on my part or inexcusable stupidity by Lambo who never should have put radio and climate control functions on touch screen. Very much diminishes the joy of driving the car when you have to fiddle with this crap and often have no music. My 2015 is easy, comfortable and has a better exhaust sound.

Mine works as it should but I agree the interface is by no means my favorite. My HP makes things easy:)
What do you say about a MANUAL STO?

I have been going nuts trying to figure out why my sto doesn’t chirp. Maybe this is why - is this something we can add after. I don’t recall seeing an anti theft option when specing the car
My fob/ignition is acting up. It won't start the car and says something about see manual. It will unlock the doors. It's been in storage for over a month or two on battery tender.

ETA - eventually starts.

What royalty has planned for that Sto makes me sick to my stomach to see. Take an STO and tear out all its attributes, manual shifting…:(. No wing. Ughhhhhh it breaks my heart to see it

If you need a hand setting up your Bluetooth let me know, or anyone on here can walk you thru the process of getting it paired and how to switch the audio in to Bluetooth which needs to be done almost everytime

Unfortunately you cannot add it later…

Dude must have a lot of money to blow because he's always doing very expensive frankenstein projects.

I think he does, has a exotic rental business in Vegas and a restaurant chain as well AFAIK

So good to see someone using the STO as it’s truly designed to do.

I have tracked the 458 pretty extensively, and with respect to brake pads, you pretty much get what you pay for.

Track pads last longer, but are more expensive. And they squeal like crazy around town.

I burned through my ceramic discs (you can really only tell wear by weighing them accd to my mechanic) and now run GIRO iron rotors and Pagid pads. Great setup (albeit heavier).

Yes the electronic nannies will wear the rears quicker, that’s what they’re meant to do. In the ideal world, the system wouldn’t be intervening so much…….as I’ve gotten smoother, I’ve also started turning them all off (458).

Finally, I‘ve started to pay attention to my calipers - will need a refurb soon. Some tracks are brutal on brakes (e.g., Sebring) and it’s the price of fun.

Great to see a Lamborghini owner enjoy the bull!

a bit OT, would like to understand tge maintenance and parts the 458 has required as a result if tracking. Also read quite a bit that the brakes on 458 dont hold up to track use. Is that just because the pads are for street use? Separately, I used to think the brakes sucked for street use (no immediate bite) but now after having them flushed they are great on the street. When i bought the car i had the brake fluid flushed but they did a ****ty job for sure.

Tires and pads have been the number one maintenance items, followed by fluid changes (brake fluid, oil). The 458 has been a remarkably bulletproof car on track. Just completed 34 days on track at Sebring last week! Been to all the best tracks out east, and next year will do Pitt, mid-OHIO, Barbor and Flatrock.

Yes, rear brakes could be better, in fact the brakes themselves are not linear in their response,,but I’ve gotten used to them, Brake fade is not an issue (I’ve used Castrol SRF and changed lines to flexible SS) in cooler weather.

A more aggressive track set up will reduce understeer, at the expense of greater wear and potential snap oversteer, which is hard to control. I dialed it back out a bit due to excessive wear.

And I’m bring picky here, but the car has a bit of body roll, mostly noticeable in pictures of the car in action.

You want to bleed the brakes every several track days, that is what I have been doing.

These complaints are relatively minor and the 458 is no slouch on the trac, and a most engaging car for certain.
