Gallardo prices falling?

17971 Views 275 Replies 50 Participants Last post by  mcomet
I'm planning on buying a G very soon and I'm wondering if Gallardo pre Lp prices are dropping now?

My general assessment is that prices for a pre Lp G coupe egear are hovering in the low 100's now.
Where prices much higher a year ago?

Is it the general consensus that prices will likely fall within the coming year? By how much?

I know no one has crystal ball, just looking for opinions

Thanks

I'd do a factory gated swap any day all day if it was more understood/easier on parts hunting to do. I follow the threads here and it just looks like a hound-hunt for certain parts or overpaying for rare conversion stuff
There’s a guy in this forum that is offering the conversion. He’s in the south somewhere if memory serves me right.
Being a pre lp owner myself I do not see how others are saying they sound the same. Just watch a few YouTube videos and you will instantly hear the difference in exhaust tones. I have been locked out of my radio for over a year now (if anyone can help me please do lol) and enjoy listening to the LOC exhaust with cat deletes just scream. If this is not in your top 5 best sounding cars of all time it definitely deserves top 10 in my opinion.
Replace the factory touchscreen. I bought an Alpine with Apple CarPlay and it’s so much nicer. Also replaced the speakers with JL Audio. Highly recommend.
Definitely agree if not top 5 for sure top 10.

It took me about 3 months to source all parts, the only part that was over priced to me was the gated shifter plate, just over 1,000 USD for a piece of stainless steel, and I'm pretty sure the prices are increasing daily. The high cost of other parts are justified because they are moving parts with a purpose that are hard to find. 900usd for the pedal assembly that included the clutch master cylinder I think was a good deal. I'm glad I got the parts when I did, I just started the conversion last week and taking my time with it.

What was your total cost for parts only?

8200 including a rebuilt Kevlar clutch, just because "while it's out" since I have to remove the transmission to install a new throwout bearing. I saved by sourcing some parts through Audi (R8)
I really wonder when people buy the Huracan if they actually like what it looks like or they just wanted to newest model.

Oops : Edit I just realized I said something similar in post #222

I prefer the Huracan because of how it looks, modern technologies, mag ride, bluetooth, gps etc. and most importantly the color Arancio Borealis. If I could I would love an STO just because it is so aggressively sexy.

I love mine. Then again, I don't find the Gallardo attractive at all, and honestly, I'd rather own a sporty SUV, than a G. Just personal preference.

Thats not bad, did you post a parts list somewhere? :)
I think I'm going to buy the Rosstech HEX-NET and familiarize myself with it before I crack the first bolt. Got everything here too including the dead pedal, paddle-shift covers, and clutch lines. Hate to get it all together and be lost w/ reprogramming, it would SUCK to have to transfer it all back....

How does one get locked out of the radio?

For parts hunting, you can use the Audi equivalent parts numbers and send the request to the factory to make it through Audi and not Lamborghini.

The only thing I see that are super rare is the pedal bracket from what I've seen so far on the threads here.

I wasn't a fan of using a flexible clutch line 12ft long since it could affect pedal engagement point (didn't want to take a chance with the line expansion and have to push the pedal to the floor to release) The factory line for the LP comes in two 6ft pieces and is solid except for two small flexible sections at the front and rear. Likely that it would also for Pre-LP and it's not all that expensive and looks proper. The shipping hurts though because of the size of the box they have to use but about $500 for both with shipping.

Be aware that with the standard hard lines, you're going to need to drop the front diff to be able to easily snake the hard clutch lines through the drive shaft. That's why many people have opted to use the flexible clutch line for ease of install.
Understood. Yay, No front diff on this one !

Where about is the clutch release position with using the flex lines ??
I'm leery because of a prior experience and it's probably the result of substandard lines. Best be careful and stick to Name Brand stuff and avoid the cheap eBay crap made who knows where..... 12ft is a long run and Squishy lines will kill the pedal feel and there's no pedal adjustment on these cars !

Wow, we're way off subject... need to move this over to the Gated conversion thread.
