The Pre LP looks dated compared to the LP. Compared to the Pre LP the LP looks more modern. You could say the LP looks dated but Classic is a better word for both models.

Talk about things being dated...that article says the Gallardo is Lamborghini's best selling model in history. The Huracan surpassed the Gallardo's production number after only 5 years of production, the Urus similarly crushing previous production numbers in just about as many. Exotic cars used to actually be rare :(. The Gallardo is a classic in my opinion, especially the pre-LP with the 5.0L engine.

They updated the article this April but yes it was written awhile ago. What you get out of it though are some valid and interesting points and questions it makes about the Gallardo's. I do like the sound the Pre LP 5.0 but not more than my gated manual. ;)

So here’s the thing, the Pre-LP just looks better, though the LP is a better car. In a movie the performance doesn’t matter though.

You look at the Pre-LP rear, it’s awesome, the way the taillights are distinct blocks with vents, it’s much more interesting than just a straight grill across from one end to the other. The front also has a strong confident look where as the LP looks very fragile and “scoopy” in an attempt to get more airflow or whatever.

It’s just better. LP tries hard to look like a track car where as Pre-LP is content with just being a nice looking car.
1000 % agree.

The solution is a pre-LP manual. Best sound in the world, and no e-gear.

I bet my LP with Akrapovic exhaust sounds as nice as the pre-LP. 😇
The neverending LP/pre-LP debate... Glad to own one, for sure!
Back to topic… did the Gallardo in F&F perform a bit realistic? Haven’t seen the movie yet. 😅 I have to say, I still like the first film most, with it’s originality. The impact of that movie in the street racing and car tuning community….Iconic

To your comment about your exhaust note with the Akrapovic exhaust. I believe it does sound awesome as does my LP with a custom enginered X-Type exhaust designed just for the LP from BBI Motorsport and it sounds awesome and screams like a banshee.

As to the Pre LP in the movie, the exhaust note is not there.

You need to turn the sound on.
Pre LP's are cheaper sexier.
Fixed it for you.

I couldn't agree more. The biggest reason I purchased the pre-LP was the look over the LP. IMO, I think it blows away the LP. The front lights are nice on the LP but the rear end is awful. Again, my opinion. The sound of the pre-LP engine is just a bonus.

I guess we all agree that the newer car is the better car, but not the nicer car, nor the best sounding one :p

All these comments are based on personal opinions. Opinions vary person to person on both the exhaust sound and look. It's all good.
In the Porsche community we always say…
“Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.”

One looks dated and one looks modern. Opinions are just that. Not facts.
Which one looks dated and which one looks modern? That’s an opinion as well. People look at my PRE LP and are surprised it’s not new/newer.

I’ll take that bet. Zero chance.

PRE LP vs LP is much closer in price, performance, etc. than people want to admit. When I was looking for my G I specifically chose the PREP LP because it looks and sounds better. There is no LP that sounds remotely as amazing as a PRE LP. You’re lying to yourself if you really think that. When it comes to performance who cares they are both slow and winning by a half car length is nothing to write home about. TT fixes that if you really care to beat or at very least keep up with todays cars. Handling wise I would gladly bet the vast majority of car enthusiasts can’t extract that extra edge via their driving skills.

I specifically chose the LP above the pre-LP. My master mechanic over all sees more pre-LP’s coming back for issues than LP’s. Better German reliability than a slightly better sound. But as said. Opinions… opinions. Like the LP and pre-LP equally by the way. Could buy mine with a clean history and a beautiful color. Most pre-LP’s I looked at were rubbish and without a decent history.
I guess we should all be proud owning a Lambo (or other nice wheels), most people don’t.

On a more serious note, they are just trims/revisions of the same car. Not that the differences are as massive as some people make them out to be, to be honest.

I bought mine because I am a sucker for high pitch engine noise, because I absolutely wanted stick shift (which comes at an unrealistic premium in LP trim), and because looks-wise I personally prefer the original design. But even though I favour the pre-LP, I would've still taken the LP over, say, the F430.

So let's rejoice in how lucky we are to be owners of these untamed beasts. Customary photo in addition to the motivational statement:
