new countach owner...1988 5.2 4V USA car...no smog equip.
First connecticut test failed, want to pass second time for sure.
RESULTS of First Test :
HC 1464(ppm) @ 1100 RPM FAIL LIMIT 220(ppm)
HC 217(ppm) @ 2500 RPM PASS LIMIT 220(ppm)
CO 0.97% @ 1100 RPM PASS LIMIT 1.20 %
CO 0.63% @ 2500 RPM PASS LIMIT 1.20 %

Car runs great, indicated 9500 km.

Has anyone used any products (additives to fuel) that are supposed to reduce emissions with positive results?
Anyone know what effects advancing or retarding timing could do to help
high HC at idle?
Thanks, AndyC

I will send pics later...please advise how to send pics.

Andy have you thought about a regular tune up? Sounds silly, but I would start with the basic stuff.

I'm going through something very similar on my Diablo. I don't have cats and I'm blowing 500 HC on one bank and 1100 on the other. No smog checks here, but heavy fumes..

A few days ago I started to go through the car, plugs, coils, cap, rotor. If still high I'll look at the wires.

I'd say pull a few plugs and pull the dist cap... see how they look.

I"ll post my findings here for my car also..

Supposedly new tune approx. 500 miles ago as far as plugs go.
cats gone also, exhaust mixes so can't say which side is what. Once the car is up to temp ...no burbles,no pops....nice and smooth from idle on up.
Hard to tell without analyzers and such as if one cylinder is off...that's all it would take.
Any juices to add to gas that could help?
