I guess hibernation is over. Roads must be clear now. I'm glad that you're driving your Gallardo again.
Up to 300km this season so far. Haven't really pushed the clutch under max throttle yet but I'll see how it handles when it gets warmer :)

Thank you for the great feedback and update. Your 30,000 miles are definitely not easy miles. I was at the track and saw how hard you were driving and then drove 70 miles home after the track day without any issues. Please keep us updated.

I would like our other customers to keep us updated with how many miles they have on our Kevlar clutch.
My update I got snapshot last week. I've driven 20,000km on Hi Tech Kevlar with 70% left. This is more than stock. I only got 16,000km from my stock clutch. I drive to Malaysia a lot. Traffic is really bad a lot of stop and go. Hi Tech Kevlar clutch very smooth. very happy:)

Thank you for your great feedback on our Kevlar clutch.

We have a few customers in Malaysia. They all say that traffic is not very good over there but our Kevlar clutch handles the bumper to bumper traffic very well.

Quick question, is the clutch installation labor the same for a 6spd manual from an egear? I'm starting to think that the installation on egears will cost more. If yes, how much more? Sean, please pm me on prices for both transmission on a 04 Gallardo 6spd and egear with recommended throwout bearing.

Thank you

Thank you for your interest in our Kevlar clutch.

The installation is the same for 6 speed and E-gear except you need to adjust the PIS with E-gear and reset. You need a Lamborghini computer to make PIS adjustments.

I have sent you a PM.

Thanks

Hi Sean,
I've been reading up about your kevlar clutch kits for the gallardo and would like a bit more info on them, I am in the process of looking for a suitable clutch replacement for my 2004 gallardo 6sp manual. I dont want to lose drivability however I do want something more robust than the OEM clutch, are the drivability characteristics the same as OEM or more aggressive? I use my car for city driving and need something user friendly for stop/go traffic? I am based in Australia, could you please PM me price with shipping please.

Thanks,
Jake

Hi Jake,

Thank you for your interest in our Kevlar clutch.

As far as daily driving, a lot of our customers have told us that it's about 50% smoother and the drivability is improved. They like the linear engagement and it has a more positive feedback.

Here is one of our customers that liked our Kevlar clutch so much that he said it felt like a new car.

Please read post #61.

" As I told both Barry and Sean, I thought that my OEM pedal effort was WAY soft which contributed to the next point, the the OEM friction point was the most imperceptible of ANY clutch I've ever had. Almost detrimental infact. I couldn't tell if I was wasting "good" clutch because the friction point was so hard to discern.

"Well this clutch brought together the best of both worlds.

1. The pedal effort is straight butta baby. Very soft. Again I thought it wasn't working and why I had to take a vid of the t/o bearing moving as I just couldn't tell. This is better than the opposite, ie a VERY hard clutch.

2. The friction point is now FINALLY perceptible. It bites quite nicely.

I was WAY stoked to go for a drive. A quick spin around the block to make sure there weren't any major leaks or apparent problems and I was OFF.

I went through all sorts of twisties and city driving. (I kept the RPM's under 4000k and throttle less than 50% Sean, don't worry. ) I thought I was driving the crap outta of the car. I drove for about an 1 hour and only went 45 miles! "

If you have any questions, please PM your phone number in Australia and I will call you back.

Thanks,
Sean

Another Hi Tech Exotic Gallardo Kevlar clutch shipped to Melbourne, Australia

We are happy to say that we have shipped another Hi Tech Exotic Kevlar clutch to Melbourne, Australia.

Because of recent events, our customer wanted to talk and meet one of our previous customers. I told him that we have a customer who has been very happy with our Kevlar clutch. He lives in Melbourne, Australia. He met and talked to our customer. He even drove his Gallardo and stated that our Kevlar clutch drives as smooth as an OEM.

He also wanted to make sure that Lamborghini Melbourne will install our Kevlar clutch. Lamborghini Melbourne told him that they have installed many Kevlar clutches from different companies and the only one that worked perfectly was Hi Tech Exotic Kevlar clutch. The other Kevlar clutches from different companies were so bad that they had to take them out. They will only install Hi Tech Exotic Kevlar clutch.

After he was assured that our Kevlar clutch functions so smoothly, he decided to buy our Kevlar clutch. He decided to have Lamborghini Melbourne to install the clutch. I asked him for some pictures and if he would kindly post here.

Here are some pictures that our customer took of Lamborghini Melbourne.

I will also have him post his feedback here. Here is more feedbacks from our other satisfied customers.

Hi fellow forum members,

I was given the opportunity, much appreciated, by Melbourne forum member Amir64 to drive his 2006 e-gear G last thursday to see for myself how his Kevlar clutch felt, given all the passionate 'discussion' on the forum recently about the suppliers of various kevlar clutches.

Prior to this I had already driven two other oem 2006 e-gear G's. I also have a 2006 G 6 speed manual with OEM clutch. The feel to me of the Hi Tech e-gear kevlar clutch was same as oem e-gear clutch, except a lot smoother on initial 'very slow' take off from start without the usual oem 'bucking'. Also smoother than oem on low rev reversing.

I would caution that the smoothness of the clutch as with all e-gear clutches, oem or kevlar, is highly dependent on the Lamborghini dealers service centre "clutch disk installation and the clutch setting by means of the La-Ra-AS system".

In normal speak this means the PIS (Point of Initial Slip) set up procedure when the new e-gear clutch is installed. I believe this is an iterative process, requiring the Lamborgini service technician to road test the vehicle and re adjust the PIS setting with the Lamborghini computer system as required.
No such adjustment required for manual 6 speeds.

I have seen a post on a DIY for a manual clutch replacement that was carried out successfully, but from reading the workshop manual, e-gear clutch DIY is definitely a "do not do try this at home" unless you have the $15,000 L-Ra-AS system. Use the dealer/indies who have the La-Ra-As system to install your e-gear clutch and are able to re-initalise and adjust the PIS .

Running in of the new clutch, manual or e-gear is critical to ensure long clutch life as several other posters and clutch suppliers have advised. Much good advice has been posted in the forum. I have attached extracts from the workshop manual , although 2003 version, on initial running in of the new clutch, so more recent workshop manual updates may apply. It would appear that once the initial reset and running in of the e-gear clutch has been carried out by the installer, then it appears prudent not to exceed 4000 rpm for another 500kms.

All Lamborghini service centres I spoke to, as you would expect, recommend oem clutch replacement.

However, based on the posts by forum members that are using kevlar clutches and their driving experience, I have ordered a Hi-Tech kevlar clutch flywheel, OEM throw out bearing and clutch position sensor for my 2006 e-gear G as should provide significantly longer lasting wear than OEM and at a minimum, OEM performance/feel and as added benefit, from what I have seen so far, from limited driving, smoother operation. Lamborghini Melbourne will be installing my kevlar e-gear clutch system at my request prior to my driving the G back home to Perth from Melbourne along the coast. I like long road trips ~2,600miles.This trip should run the clutch in:)

I have received excellent communiction and advice from Sean as I am sure customers of other kevlar clutch suppliers have also received from their preferred supplier.

I have attached images of my new to me 2006 SE #127 e-gear G, Grigio Proteus and a very nice collection of Lambos in the Lamborghini Melbourne workshop.

My two cents worth and apologies for the ramble from a poster new to e-gear clutches and the system.
cheers,
john

Another Hi Tech Exotic Diablo Kevlar clutch shipped to Sydney, Australia

We are happy to say that we have shipped another Hi Tech Exotic Diablo Kevlar clutch to Sydney, Australia.

Our customer wanted to get a clutch that lasts longer than an OEM. He also wanted to make sure that the engagement is smooth. So we put him in contact with some of our other customers who had bought our Diablo Kevlar clutch. He was satisfied with the feedback from our other customers.

He was also concerned about the clutch pedal pressure. Clutch pedal pressure is usually increased with our competitors Kevlar clutch but our clutch pedal pressure is about 30% lighter. One of our customers mentioned to him that his Diablo is actually drive-able now because of the softer clutch pedal.

After hearing all the positive feedbacks, he has decided to buy our Kevlar clutch. I will have him post his feedback here.

Here are some pictures of our Diablo Kevlar clutch. This Kevlar clutch fits 1991-1995 Diablo.

If you need any information, please feel free to give us a call at 1-888-456-0437.

Hi Tech Exotic kevlar clutch

Hi
I had a high-tech exotic kevlar clutch installed in my 2006 Gallardo. Lamborghini were reluctant to install and provided some stern advice but I insisted and the clutch runs perfectly. Reverse is even better then OEM. Gears are flawless. John AKA Lamboperth took my car for a drive and seemed very pleased with the clutch. PM him for further feedback.
Word of caution there are a few Australian sellers trying to sell reconditioned clutches with Kevlar coating that I think Lamborghini had some trouble installing. Don’t waste your money and go for a new High Tech clutch.
Customer services from HighTech Exotics is awesome and I’m one not a person that is easily impressed.
PM me for any questions.

Hi,
I have just had Lamborghini Melbourne install new Hi-Tech kevlar clutch in 2006 G. On first test drive, same feel as Amire64 on take off and reverse.
Very happy with installation. Looking forward to long life with this clutch in the G. Need to bed in the clutch as per Sean's recommendations in italics.
You need to break it in for 500 miles. Keep the throttle under 50% and keep the revs under 4K. The 500 miles should be with a lot of street driving. The more normal shifting the better. Do not feather the throttle when taking off from a dead stop.
Great service and follow up communications from Sean. Much appreciated.
cheers,
john
