I never play cards for money anymore. When I was much younger I lost the princely sum of $5.00 and I hated the feeling so much I developed an aversion to the sport. Back then $5.00 was all the money in the world, at least in my world.馃挵

I have played poker for a part of my living for 20 years. Losing $500 always gave me more intense feelings than winning $10,000. Hate losing!

I don't mind splurging on toys given you have something to show for it but playing cards for money, at my poor skill level, is inadvisable.鈾

I was mostly just agreeing that it is a ****ty feeling to lose money! I lost the first 4 years I played, which motivated me to not having a losing year the last 20 years playing.

They are only buying in for 20 per person. Just enough to make it fun. I have never played poker at a casino. Blackjack is the only game I play. I want to learn poker. Looks like fun. Casinos have gotten so tight on blackjack around here that it is tough to beat any more. When I go to Vegas or more competitive venues I normally win. Even a good player cannot beat a bad game.

Goodness, a 3.4 M Pagani! It takes my breath away, I would hate to make that call to the insurance company. Fortunately, no one appears to have been hurt but talk about PTSD; I would have it big time after this kind of incident/accident.

This story reminded me on another one in Ft. Worth several years ago where a guy buys his teenage son a new 911 turbo for this first car. That story did not end well, for the kid nor his three passengers. The car got ripped in half. So it just shows you can create good memories or nightmares in the blink of an eye.

I hear you and to be frank I think teenagers should not be anywhere near supercars this powerful. Heck, every time I fire up one of these road rockets, admittedly, I drop more than a few IQ points.........

Looks like my sons teen memories will be put on hold for a while. He got to spend Weds night in the Graybar hotel for reckless driving. He did a donut in the parking lot of a soccer field in his old 325 I Bmw. (Not the lambo)He was in from Weds evening till about 5 on Thurs afternoon. He was not supposed to even be driving the car since the registration is not current. His Lambo priviliges were GONE IN 60 SECONDS. I asked him why he was not carrying his get out of Jail free card. LOL

Sorry to hear that, Lee. My cousin and I should still be in jail for all the donuts we did when we were in high school! 馃槵 The judge your son will appear before also did the same exact thing. Let鈥檚 hope he has some memory and professional mercy!

that said, I thought of you immediately when I saw the article posted above today. Glad that kid was OK but that dad really made an unwise choice. At age 17, you (and i) as a dad must consider the liability that comes back on you if he hurt somebody else. As for the kid in that article who wrecked his dad鈥榮 $3 million car, I can tell you my insurance company would not cover it. They will not cover anyone under 25. Period. End of story for my Diablo. (Not that anyone under 25 can drive a stick!?)

Sorry to hear that Lee but he learned a hard lesson and I am sure his much wiser for the wear. When I was young I couldn鈥檛 afford a car and used a bicycle and public transportation to get to and from college. Hard to do donuts on a 10-speed bike. I bet your son will be more cautious going forward and this incident may have prevented a more serious problem down the road. That is, these cars are fun but can be very dangerous.

Did you forget what it was like to be a teenager Lee? Brains are not done with the wiring at that age. Glad he only got in trouble for silly irresponsible stuff.

I had a traffic incident, as my younger self, when I was living in Korea that still haunts me to this day. I was driving down the street and a bus had just stopped at a bus stop and out of the corner of my eye I saw a young Korean boy, backpack and all, walking the bus isle toward the front exit then he suddenly disappeared from sight. I don鈥檛 know too this day what made me do it but I slammed on the brakes and stopped even with the bus and low and behold that young Korean lad, maybe 6 years old, was a little startled and he turned and looked at me and gave me a big smile. That day things could have gone very differently and it could have ended that boy鈥檚 life, devastated his family, and me for the rest of our lives. But for the grace of God鈥︹.
Bottom line Lee things are not all that bad but just in case put the fear of God in him to avoid serious problems down the road. ;)

Thanks guys. He actually was kind of happy it happened. It made him realize how something stupid can change your life forever. Funny thing is they never read him his rights until he went in front of the judge the next day. . That should be grounds for dismissal should it not?

From the tiny bit you have posted about your son, I don't think any judge is going to want to throw the book at him for doing some doughnuts in an unregistered vehicle. I would be shocked if they pursue much more than a firm warning and maybe a fine. Justice system typically has bigger fish to fry. At least around here, they are pretty reluctant to blemish an otherwise good person's record.

Only slightly related, a coworker was driving home in the middle of the night and opened it up on the freeway. Got up to 135 (in a 60 zone) and drifted it around his exit. Cop pulled him over and told him he had been following him the whole time. Cop gave him a ticket for 89 mph and sent him on his way. He saw the judge and he reduced it to a ticket for 79 mph. Because of street racing issues, anything over 90 mph is jail, loss of license, and an impounded car. 20 mph over limit can be loss of license and huge fine. He ended up with a decent sized fine, but that was it. Justice system cut him a huge break. Buddy said he drives like a saint now. I think they know a good warning goes a long ways.

If he learns his lesson and no one got hurt, that is a great outcome. There are so many others who didn鈥檛 learn their lessons until they hit a tree or harmed another person. If he shows some humility to the judge and takes his stripes, he鈥檒l be a better man for it. Frankly, he鈥檒l be one large step closer to being mature enough to drive your Murciealgo!
