That article reads like a total puff piece for marketing. They’re brilliant strategy, so-called, is to share their five year plan in advance with suppliers? Not so fast.
At the current run rate, Lamborghini makes in five years (7,430x5 = 37,150) what VW makes in 1.43 days (9.3M/360 = 25,800, assuming the factory is open every day of the year but five). (Quick Google search only. I don’t stand by those numbers but by way of example only). I’m guessing what really happens is they approach the chip manufacturers for economies of scale and cheapest input cost by begging for attention and promising 5 yrs advance production guarantees. Thus they happened to have preordered enough for their small amounts of production and now look “brilliant” in advance of Covid.
all that said, I have not ordered a new Lamborghini. Does anybody have a sense if Lamborghini is a victim of the same current supply chain shock?
