My 401k kind of underperformed last year, so I figured I'd better diversify my portfolio with another international asset. Remember that in case my wife asks 😅.
In December of 2021 I drove a Huracan STO at Exotics Racing in Las Vegas, where you can rent supercars for a few laps on the track. I've always loved Lamborghinis, but never dreamed I'd actually own one. That drive made me start thinking of ways to try to make it happen. The STO was a bit hardcore, and much more expensive, so I decided to try to find a more modestly priced Huracan. Found a super clean 2021 Evo RWD with less than 4,000 miles on it, made a decent deal on it, and now it's actually in my garage. Mind blowing.
Color is Nero Granatus, which mostly looks black, but on closer inspection (and depending on the light) looks like a sparkly metallic super-dark burgundy color, or sometimes even super dark purple. Spec included the carbon ceramic brakes and sport seats, which is just what I was looking for (especially since I'm 6' 2").
I took Mrs. Whip for a ride up and down the street shortly after getting it home. Wish we could have gone further, but it was super cold and the roads are pretty dirty. She LOVED it. The ride up the street was in Strada mode (remarkably quiet, very comfortable suspension). On the way home I switched it to Sport mode. Much louder! Sounded absolutely incredible. Beautiful pops on every downshift that made it sound like it was spitting fire. We were actually scaring horses along the road

).
Took the car in a couple of weeks ago to get more PPF. It already had it on the hood, front fenders and mirrors, but that was it. I decided to get the rest of the car done completely, as it's in such perfect shape and I really want to protect it.
It has been pretty funny to watch people's reactions when I've driven it around a little bit here and there. When I was driving through the tiny town north of here, there was a kid walking along the street, maybe 10 years old. He looked up and his jaw just completely dropped, mouth wide open. Must have thought it was the Batmobile or something. 😂
So thankful to have the opportunity to own and drive this very special car. It's an absolutely stunning work of art, engineering marvel, completely badass, and the sound will thrill me every time I drive it.
