Vehicle: 1988 Mondial 3.2

Project: The following project comes from a client in Connecticut that
took advantage of our summer service sale. Although in excellent
condition, the vehicle had a few major mechanical issues. It was due for a
major service. Normally, we could handle this service with the motor in,
but to properly resolve all the issues it would be best to remove the
motor. This makes it easier for us to look over all components. Some
repair work is essential and some work being done is preventative
maintenance.

The comprehensive list of service is as follows:

-Major service
-Clutch malfunction
-Oil leaks
-Minor electricle issues
-Replace fuel lines
-Replace coolant hoses
-Major detail service

Stage 1: The first electrical issue we ran into is common for the Mondial.
The rear hatch would not open. Removal and inspection of the switch shows
failure due to corrosion. An oem replacement resolved this issue.

Stage 2: As preventative maintenance, the fuse box is removed and rebuilt
to prevent future failure.

Stage 3: Our technician Alex started by removing all electrical connections, fuel/cooling lines, and mounting hardware to free the engine. The vehicle is now raised to free the engine cradle.

You guys do a great job of documenting these jobs. Thank you for sharing, it gives us a lot of insight into the mechanical side of various cars which is something that always interests me.

Could you tell me if the mondial had hydraulic lifters? I would have thought not but it sort of looks like it from one of the pictures.

Thanks!
