I'm looking into a Gallardo and have a few questions:

1. Engine Management - What is used? Can it be tuned?

2. Turbo Systems - Anyone have a turbo system or SC power adder? Any good tuners that members would recommend? I see a kit on Hennessey's website for the Gallardo for 700HP.

3. How much HP can the Clutch, E-Gear, and Tranny hold??? Can it hold over 700HP?

4. Any HIGH HP Lambo's out there??

5. What about Fuel System, Injectors, etc?? What is Max HP supported by current fuel system configuration? Injector size? Pump's, Lines, Pressure regulator??

6. Is there a good website to research the V10 in the Gallardo?

My goal is to build a high HP street Lambo. I think the V10 platform would be great to turbo charge.

Thanks for any feedback!

I have read a bit about Hennessey. :(

I'd just buy the kit and have it installed by my mechanic. I'm just curious about the engine management/power holding capabilities of the clutch/tranny etc. Looks like it uses the AUDI FSI system. Audi is developing a biturbo version to put out 610bhp. Maybe herin lies some of my answers.

Me too, curious about the clutch capabilities.

However, I can only comment on my e-gear experience. The only times I have had any clutch issues - and these have been a burning clutch smell (no smoke!) have been a couple of slow careful standing starts on very steep hills, and also once when I was having heaps of trouble negotiating the car back and forth into a very very tight parking space in an underground car park. And these times were when using minimal power and revs, so it wouldn't have made any difference if the engine was "capable" of 100, 500, or 1000HP. Seems that any clutch problems (at least with the e-gear) have been restricted to engagement/slipping issues at low torque demand, and probably mainly due to the relatively unnecessarily high gear ratios in first.

To my knowledge there have been no clutch problems regarding the actual power and torque that the clutch can transmit, once it is fully engaged.

Despite a few clutch burning smells during my first 2500km of ownership , when I collected the car from the dealer today after it's 2500 km service, I was told that the amount of clutch wear that had taken place to date was virtually negligible. Seems they can measure this using their lap top!

I queried this further, and he said that there is a potentiometer somewhere in the clutch mechanism system that measures the actual distances/travel required to operate the clutch, and the amount that these figures change, can be used to determine the wear on the clutch pads.

I beleive that the E-gear has the same tranny as the 6spd but with a robotized clutch mechanism...not an auto with a torque converter!!

How long does the stock clutch last and what is the HP holding power?? Does anyone know where I can get this information?

Also, What about information on maintaining this new Audi V10??? Any websites with specs, etc?

Does anyone know the name of the shop in Costa Mesa, CA that turbo charges lambos? I cannot find their number/name?

Thanks!

Slipping clutches on a hill vs a power adder like a blower are to different things. Clutches typically are only capable of handling so much hp. As you move up to a stronger clutch, you have less "forgiveness" for day to day driving. All the parts will be fine...until you can get the power to the ground.
