2021 Huracan Evo Gearbox not changing down gear in Strada

Hi everyone, just got my 2021 evo delivered. When the car is in Strada it goes up to 6th gear really quickly, when trying to speed up the car stays in 6th and feels like it’s bogging down. To get the gear to step down you have to go through the kickdown, which drops it down aggressively to 2nd/3rd which isn’t ideal when travelling in traffic. Does anyone else experience this in their Evo? I’m being told this is a feature of the new gearbox and not a fault. Having had 3 Huracans previously I find that hard to believe as none previously did this?

That must be frustrating because I find strada on my 580 to be unusable for me and it shifts up quickly so I can’t imagine it being more sluggish. Maybe a tune is in order?
I seldom use Strada, but I do remember having the same issue when I did. however it drops down nicely gear by gear when gradually braking and slowing to come to a stop.
I almost exclusively drive in Sport and Corsa but never noticed the issue you describe with Strada. I just found Strada to be frustrating sluggish when accelerating so I prefer not using it.
Are you referring to in automatic mode, the time it takes to down shift after hitting accelerator? I know this is intentional to pass drive-by noise regulations. Cars have to pass through a section accelerating at a certain speed and can't pass a db threshold. Kickdown delays are intentionally engineered to to pass this. But should only be when in strada and automatic

Use Strada Auto in my 580-2 in bumper-to-bumper traffic and never experienced your issue
You're not alone! I have a 2021 EVO RWD and have experienced the exact same issue after a few days into ownership. I even have detailed the concrete steps to reproduce this problem and have communicated them to both my dealer and the Lamborghini North America Customer Relations lead. The dealer was also able to reproduce this problem following my instructions on another EVO RWD they have in stock. The Lamborghini NA customer relations lead basically said that this behavior is normal and expected, but that he would pass along my feedback to the factory. Fingers crossed if there'll ever be a gearbox software update to fix this. IMHO, the current gearbox programming in Strada is very dangerous. I have had multiple occurrences where the vehicle would not pick up in 6th gear at low speeds without me having to downshift manually.
For fellow EVO owners, here are the exact steps to reproduce. You should all try it out, and I guarantee this would strike you as unsafe.
1) Prereq: The car needs to be in Strada and in automatic mode
2) Accelerate very slowly from a stop. The goal is to have the gearbox automatically shift to 6th gear at the speed around 25-30mph.
3) As soon as the gearbox reaches 6th gear around 25-30mph, start pressing the gas pedal. At this point, there is no further downshift even after flooring the accelerator (but without activating kickdown mode). The car does not deliver enough power to accelerate. However, during this time, manually downshifting to 5th gear would work and would provide the appropriate acceleration. There is no user-facing fault codes.

I have the same issue. no matter how much i press the acceleration on strada up to kick down, it gets stuck on 6th gear and it very slowly goes 60, 61, 62 kmh.

Looks like they did it to score better in some tests; noise, fuel consumption etc.

Strada automatic is not usable and dangerous, i have to always switch to sport when I'm overtaking.
When I had my 2019 580-2 the acceleration in Strada was worse than my turbo 4-cylinder Hondas' so I have come to rarely use it. The engineers may have designed Strada for a particular purpose that makes sense to them and Lamborghini but in my mind is useless on a Sports car. In Texas there is a saying........useless as tits on a bull, apropos I think with Strada.
Can someone tell me, if in sport mode is there ‘more’ acceleration if you push the pedal thru the floor or is it maxed when you feel the kick down switch ?

thanks

Steve
The Jayemmoncars youtube review was super critical of this when doing the EVO review.

You need to ensure you press the A button ( auto ) If you dont it will not drop down in gears. It will only change gears when going up to avoid damaging the engine

This !

I got a ticket by the police a few weeks ago for driving in Sport-Mode with open exhaust flaps.
That's because we have a (fairly) new law in Germany stating that "causing avoidable noise pollution" is illegal and driving with open exhaust flaps (Sport-Mode) is avoidable by using Strada.

I tried to explain the "Strada-Situation" and it's dangers to the officer ... you can imagine how that turned out .. complaining about how bad the lambo drives ...

^^Sorry to hear about the ticket Leon but Strada is, well, a completely useless driving mode.

So on my car if I'm in 7th gear strada and automatic and I accelerate, it will kick down to 2nd or 3rd. I was on the highway and needed to pass some cars it threw my head back I was quite surprised. Mind you that there are what appear to be one or two "walls" you need to push through on the accelerator pedal. If you only stop at first resistance point then it won't kickdown, you need to keep pushing

I will try doing the same thing when it's in 6th gear

This is standard operation of the 2021 Evo. I admit to using the paddle shift to get a lower gear that feels better in the rpm range but then you have to reset to get back to automatic mode which requires turning the car off and restarting. I have been able to adjust my driving habits but there is a learning curve for this feature.

i don't know what you mean with resetting to get back to automatic mode, if you wait 10 secs it automatically gets back to automatic.

I'm referring to manually shifting down to a lower gear. I'll double check that but mine doesn't seem to reset after 10 seconds.

if you put the car in manual mode via paddle shifter and it doesnt go back to auto you can hit the M button on the center console to switch back. You dont have to turn the car off and back on. That button will toggle from Manual to Auto whenever you want.
