2021 EVO rev in park/neutral

11374 Views 98 Replies 22 Participants Last post by  _SVJ_
We have 2 2021 EVO RWD and 1 2020 EVO AWD. Both 2021's will only hit about 4000rpm in park/neutral. The 2020 will rev as normal. My dealer has no idea, and the tech said he guesses Lamborghini changed it for 2021 to protect the engine.
Does anyone have experience/information about this?

Same in my 2020 Evo RWD - about to hit 1k miles so we will see if it changes
My 2020 AWD does not limit RPM when in park
This rev limiter is not to protect the engine nor is it a fault... and it will not fix itself after 1000miles. I'm surprised a lambo dealer wouldn't know how to answer a client about this... almost all new cars are getting this.. soft rev limiter.. It seems its a new regulation on 2020 and above. They claim its environmental issues.. but I'm pretty sure a big part is the sound annoyance.
anyway... there shouldn't be a reason for u to rev the **** out of the engine when the car is just sitting there.
That is what I was talking about. See the video of carwow, in which the 992 Turbo S also features a soft rev limiter.

We are not alone! Good to know.

Very interesting and informative but the last part is absolutely true we should not "rev the ** out of the engine when the car is just sitting there". I am sure "rev the ** out of the engine" is a technical phrase that is no doubt well known in engineering circles. :giggle:

A couple blips is fine for the engine. And if done in an area where there aren't anyone to annoy I don't see the harm.

Has anyone tried disabling traction control and trying? I know that was a workaround with some other cars with soft limiters
Just think of the pressing The throttle as a “request” not an ”order.”

That’s a great suggestion, I’ll try mine Saturday.

Well that sucks, that limiter sure will ruin some fun when at car shows or when showing off to some friends in private but I do understand their reasoning to protect the engine. Still a shame though.

Neutral is your friend then... Once you're on neutral u can do some eardrum  raping

Wait.. u have a 2019 performante.. so ur fine. Surely urs doesn't have the soft rev limiter ? Mine surely doesn't.

I can just see me stopped at a light and a group of young admirers gives me the REV IT sign, and I roll down the window and tell them "Wait till I start moving please", lol.

Rev limiters aside, that video was impressive for other reasons as well.....that 992 turbo S performed pretty impressively being both heavier and with less horsepower. Clearly, being a 4 wheel drive makes for great launches off that startline.

That's right, I was talking in general about future 2021/2022+ models, not my car or the EVO in particular as it wouldn't make sense for them to not have this change permanent for all upcoming models as well unfortunately.

So theoretically MY2022 STOs should be affected by this limiter as well or are they excluded because it's a more raw car?
I think when my car comes I'm going to get a custom tune to address all the environmental BS:
-Default start with start-stop off
-Valves fully open when in sport/corsa at startup
-Can rev in park/neutral when stopped and engine warm
What can you do about a GPF if it happens to have it?

Weep uncontrollably! 😭

Not sure if you meant mine? Dealer says eta Q2 so should be good. Still 21MY
China model already has GPF and the rev limit in park is 7500rpm

I haven‘t tried to rev mine in park, Just neutral.
