Stumbled across this, Tesla style vertical screen that replaces the Navi and climate control panel.. Anyone here seen or mounted this? Seems to be around $2k, can’t decide if I like it or not 🙄

I remember where I first saw the Wannabe Tesla Retro-Mod Screen.......
If you're rebuilding some wreck, and are doing so to create some Outrageous custom eyeballer... it seems it would be a good fit, otherwise, it just doesn't go with the flow.

Haha.... my opinion doesn't matter. I just like to make fun of stuff I would never do (cause I'm too old). When you're young, have fun. Let the old heads laugh it up while they still can.

I went with this one. It has Carplay or Android OS (does both)

Looks almost identical to OEM and perfectly fits in the same opening

Omar has one installed in his Gallardo. He may not want to contribute to the thread since he had a very poor experience on L-T before. 😅

May have more luck asking in the Facebook groups.

That's all I am really looking for in feedback. Looks like it would suck to use beyond the first 15 min but wanted to be sure.
Think of how many impulse buys ended up being the wrong decision. We're 'wowed' by a new product and gotta have it until the novelty wears off...... ultimately it's your car, your decision, your choice, and you're doing proper research by asking opinions and checking reviews to weigh your Pros and Cons. Have fun with whatever you decide !!
The last I heard the unit was setup for euro-spec cars and one of the owners that stuck it in their North American car couldn't even get all the functions to work correctly. I think it is a neat idea but generally stay away from completely Chinese companies unless they have a proven track record and/or a backing company in America.

I would've been very very VERY interested if they had found a way to:
  • Get rid of the HVAC controls and integrate them in the screen (as it is shown in the photo)
  • Keep the rocker switches, and move that switch panel all the way down, where the HVAC controls are
That would result in a smaller screen, but still big enough to present everything correctly. And it will respect, to some extent, the design language of the central area of the dashboard. I hope someone will develop something like this :)
iplane, what I was thinking of doing actually is rebuilding the HVAC unit completely, with a single LCD centered screen instead of two small digit screens. Would update the unit but allow the head unit and HVAC to remain separate so maintains the factory look/feel a bit better, specifically leaving the center switches in place. That way I could change some of the functionality of the HVAC that annoys me, like the fan blower speed for defrost not being remembered, and pushing the seat-heat button completely turning on the unit. But would keep the head-unit and HVAC separate to maintain the factory overall appearance.

I've had it for a year and a half and I love it. It performs very good.

This is the direct link

I’m a dealer for carnavi and can get you guys this but I didn’t push it before because they were some issues that needed tweaked. From what I’m seeing now it’s been rectified. If anyone wants, call/text me 717-319-2100

Any discounts available?
Nice thanks for the link. The ooze got the panel too so its like bubbling and looks bad. I am guessing Eurospares $7XX is the best option.
I pulled the buttons of an audi unit and rebuilt mine - Back in 2010 I posted a thread on how to use a scrap 2004 A8 unit as a button doner.

You can also buy "sticker sets" to do the same thing. As I said, I bought a scrap a8 unit and swapped the buttons over. Lots of screws but it worked fine.

Hi all, I just came across this thread - I have this installed In my GEN1 SL - first thing I did was have the surround skinned in real carbon to match the rest of my interior as the piano black didn’t look very good…
It works really well and the apple car play is what I use and works perfectly - it retained the stock reverse camera too. I know this prob won’t be for everyone but I’m my humble opinion it really improves the interior - my main issue with the stock interior is in the SL there is carbon and alcantara everywhere then sitting right in the middle there was a heating panel right out of a 2004 TDI A4 :( it killed the super car look and feeling!

I think this looks amazing! Great job! If this works as if it were factory and the install isnt too crazy, then I would consider this for sure. How did you get the carbon fiber match so perfectly?

I had a professional do the install, it took him around 4 hours - but a lot of that was sorting out and making the wires behind all neat and tidy.
I removed the surround and sent it off to a company that do Carbon fibre skinning and they did a fantastic job! I’m really happy with it, it completes the interior in my opinion! the android interface is good and you can customise it however I don’t use it, I use apple car play that works great it’s as quick and works as well as the stock apple car play in my other cars.
