I remember the first time we talked (before replacing the clutch)you mentioned the clutch smoked getting into your garage, is there a reasonable incline at the entrance? Aside from this instance how has it been driving, any other unusual behavior?

Ronnie, all is well up here...we're enjoying the fruits of Summer weather! These cars with automated manual gearboxes are difficult to reverse. They slip the clutch quite a lot in reverse and it's VERY easy to overheat and smoke the clutch while during that maneuver. I doubt there's any "issue", it was probably just a culmination of factors that caused it to smoke this time. The trick is to keep the RPM's as low as possible while in reverse and still get the car to move. If you have any further issues or concerns give me a call at the office, 703-421-5356

Josh, Hope you are doing well. My clutch started smoking today. I was feathering it to inch it into a garage and the smoke started pouring out and stinking. Did i screw something up. It ran fine when I picked it up. Why would it act like that ?

I tried putting screws in vacuum hoses and check engine light illuminates after aprox 50 miles. Remove screws and CEL goes off.

I was informed to try putting a spark plug spacer on the 02 sensor.....I have little confidence in this for the 02 sensor is located in the primary cat upstream of vacuum pods..

Thanks for your time and anticipate our meeting some day.

    Josh,

I would like to disconnect the vacuum operated butterfly exhaust diverter valves for a more free flowing deeper sound exhaust note.

The question I have is how or what needs to be done to stop the CEL from illuminating.

PS Oil leak has resurfaced but not as bad. Only about one or two drops after a couple of hundred miles. No doubt I will address this at some point.
