Default Lamborghini LP550-2 Valentino Balboni

Lamborghini isn't commenting, but several photos of a new model from the exotic Italian automaker have wound up on the web. These pictures are reportedly of a new rear-drive version of the Gallardo LP560 - and they certainly do look official.

The name of the car also leaked out and is reported to be called the LP550-2 – with the number "2" signifying it is a two-wheel, or rear-drive, machine. As the name also suggest, this car will be slightly less powerful than it's all-wheel drive sibling, with 550hp, as opposed to 560hp.

Performance of the LP550-2 would no doubt be superior, however, as the two-wheel drive version is likely to weigh several hundred pounds less.

All well and good, but the internet stories lean towards the fact that this car will be priced 10% less than the standard version of the car !! So, an improved model, for way less money, in the first year of its production ? That turns me off as an owner of their products; re-sale prices are crappy enough without the factory helping to stab it's customers in the back !

That would be awesome. I have been begging for that for years.

I do not see the 10% less being a problem. If they were $20K yeah there is a complaint. Factories have to sell what they can to keep the doors open.

Well, I own one; and, they have (providing the price info is true) effectively just lowered the car's price by $20k. So, at this point in time, I'm pretty annoyed with their games.
It's a panic ploy on their part. The point is, who wants premium level cars from a manufacturer that does that to it's customers after six months on the marketplace (if this turns out to be correct)? Did they hire Bernie Madoff as the Director of Marketing.

You are right you should be pissed...I bet that the people that are affected by Madoff wish they only lost the $20K though. But at the end of the day any and all cars are a depreciating asset. If you bought your car thinking that it was going to keep its value or increase, you were misled.

detour,
No. No. No.
It's my second Gallardo; to me it's just the principle of it all. They (H.Q.) just keep messing with 'ya'. First my dealer went belly-up, and they leave you high and dry; now this crap. They do make it hard to feel warm and fuzzy about the company, nowadays.

Yes Rampante I agree with you..where is the new SL instead of this? And how is this stacking up against the R8 V-10?
