Default Mercedes of Naperville

Do not take your Mercedes there to be serviced. They are the worst most unprofessional dealership I have ever been to. I have been taking my mercedes there for 3 years. 2.5 years ago I bought the car in because the exhaust was getting loud after only 17,000 miles?!?!? They looked at it and said everything is fine. I brought it back 5-6 times for maintenance and mentioned it every time nothing was done. Now the warranty has expired (3 months ago) and the exhaust manifold broke completely off where it is 4 into1 (complete failure of the weld). They fixed it at a cost of $1550 just for the manifold. Now the loud exhaust from 2.5 years ago has been resolved.

So who thinks the the dealer should eat that cost because it was brought in and complained about while under warranty and never fixed? I questioned them about it and they said that it was never mentioned. I then showed them the paper work from 2 years ago and they said it didn't matter because it was two years ago and it is no longer under warranty?!? They will not return my calls. The funny part is that my wife and I were going to trade it in on the new CL 500 but I guess they just lost the sale. I would probably never buy another mercedes after this none sense.

It is not a matter of money, but a matter of customer service.

Unfortunatley that sounds like one of those things that all you can do is complain about it here. It's enough dollars to enrage you but not enough to spend more money trying to get satisfaction.

I think they should pay for it.

I used to take mine into Mercedes of Hoffman Estates and never had any issues. But, I have learned that contacting the GM or the owner of the dealer (Mercedes or otherwise) even for service issues has helped me when I've had problems with the service managers. I would also consider making copies of all the documentation and mailing it into Mercedes Corporate.

I talked to the GM and Corporate. Corporate said it is in the dealers hands now that it is out of warranty. Therefore, as Raymondo says it is less frustrating to let it go. They are supposed to call me back in the morning to let me know what the final outcome is. They were pissed that I called corporate too. Oh well.

Final update. We came to a mutual agreement that we will split the cost. I guess this is better than nothing. I think this way it was win win for both sides. I give them credit for working something out.
