The car was originally represented to me simply as an open allocation for a spyder at msrp for Jan/Feb delivery. There was no list of waiting buyers.
After discussions about the spyder, I was asked to think about buying a new car off the lot now. I said that was not what I had in mind, too costly, and Salem at Lamborghini of Denver asked what if I give you a guarenteed buy back price when you trade it in on the spyder. After getting the price of the new car, which was average, and the conditions (must be perfect in every way), I told him I'd pass and just take the spyder. Then I was told that now things were "different", and that "the lustre was off the deal". I asked if he was saying he would not sell me the spyder, and he said "no, I'll sell it to you, but the deal is not attractive to me, as I could have sold the car out of market for more money". I told him that was against Lamborghini policy for a local dealer. We agree to go ahead, and he faxed me my completed order sheet. Then the next morning he emails me (no phone call) and informs me that the car has been sold. The price of the spyder from the begining was msrp. There was no list. I called out of the blue last week to ask about spyders, and was told there was an open allocation if I was interested. I never played along with the two car deal to get a better price, I already had msrp from the begining. I can also state, that msrp is all I will ever pay for a spyder, as I will wait in line for a car as long as necessary. I will not pay over for this car. I welcome any input from Lamborghine of Denver, and Salem Heller the sales manager I worked with. I will provide a scanned copy of my finalized order sheet with name, date and time, and well as all emails from the begining if anyone wants to see them. There is no justification or excuse for the behaviour of this dealership other than simple greed. This practice of mark ups over selling to a loyal local fan base gives all Lamborghini dealerships a black eye, and reflects poorly on Lamborghini itself for not monitoring and policing the dealerships. I post this only for the edification of future buyers. If more people took a stand to this sleazy business practice, we would all be better off. |

I feel that I had better defend Myself, My Dealership and my business practices as they have all come under fire recently.
First, let me clarify that there has been some conversation taken out of context and used to cause damage to my operation. The vehicle has not been sold out of my market and the vehicle was not sold above MSRP. Second, I have offered resolution to Chris and have not yet heard back from him as of now. Third, I still maintain that I was very clear with Chris that I needed a deposit to solidify an order in our initial conversation. This is one of the reasons he came down in the middle of the week. I asked for the deposit when he was in the dealership and he said “I,ll give it to when we place the order” he had already said he wanted the car several times, we had already agreed that it would be sold at MSRP. We had a 10 minute conversation about refundable vs. non-refundable deposit. And he left the dealership without leaving me a deposit. I have to work in absolutes, not conversations. I know that Chris is a real buyer, and a pillar of his community, I wouldn’t have spent 5+ hours with him if I didn’t believe that. I agree that I didn’t need to press on a Gallardo coupe and see the error there. I initiated the conversation, Chris seemed open to it and when the scenario changed, I didn’t let go soon enough. All due respect to the client, I run a responsible business, and I am not short on morals or have sleazy business practices, I am regretful that this opportunity has turned out so badly but I am confident that given the chance, I can rectify the situation with the client. As it has never my intention to punnish or irritate him in any way. Salem Heller General Manager Lamborghini Denver |

I guess the only thing I would have done different was leave a deposit the first time i went there - makes me feel better when i leave the dealership with a signed order form

Salem,
I have been home all weekend, and the phone has not rung once. What resolution are you proposing? Please tell me here so that we all can see what you have in mind, and if it's consistant with all the details above. I will check in during the day here. Chris |

Chris, Hopefuly you received this email, if not, here was my proposal for resolution.
please call me as I do not have your home # accessable over the weekend. thank you, Salem Chris, If I can persuade my Gallardo Spider buyer to accept the mid spring delivery would you be interested in moving forward? In light of your frustration I would be willing to ask. if this is something that would be an acceptable resolution for you, I will make every effort to make it happen. Regards, Salem |

Perhaps Lambo NA will accomodate the situation and allocate a spider for a quick resolution.

Salem,
Convincing someone else to not take their car is hardly a resolution. I want no part in disappointing another car buyer. You cannot be serious in asking if I want to forward. You have no credibility in my eyes, and I have no trust in your dealership. That I would be treated this badly before even buying the car is shocking. You set the tone for the dealership. I can only imagine what the future would bring for me at Lamborghini of Denver, as unforseen problems do arise. If you cannot even follow through on your word now, I am certainly not going to give another chance to repeat this. I am the one who trusted you. You have a fledgling dealership with four employees, including one service technician who doubles as the service manager, you use the service bays of the next door Subaru dealership, no enclosed trailer for repairs and transport. I trusted that you will be able to make a go of it in the competitive Denver market. If you go under, I have problems getting service. Ferrari of Denver has been around for 30 years and enjoys a sterling reputation...yet I went with you. I note that you still gloss over the fact that you worked with me all week, filled out the order sheet with me, faxed it my office Friday afternoon, and then sold the car the same day. Never even a phone call to ask if I would give you a credit card for a deposit. Your defense is that you warned me. I find that unacceptable. That is hardly what I consider loyality to a customer. Several kind dealers have contacted me and offered to sell me a spider at msrp with the same delivery date. I think I prefer to start fresh. I want to feel good about writing a check for $227,000. I will never be able to that at Lamborghini of Denver. And I am afraid I will never be able to recommend your dealership. I am in the office all week if there is anything further you wish to discuss. My name is Danny Baker. I am new to the Forum and I just read your whole story. I am not trying to be pushy, however I have been in the car business for about 6 years unfortunately and these sorts of things happen all the time. I hate to see an unfortunate experience when buying a lambo should be a ton of fun!!!
I am offering all the help that I can in getting you whatever car you would like. I would love the opportunity to earn your automotive business. We have a few very nice spyders on the ground and ready for delivery now. I can also locate a car for you very quickly. My cell number is 314-267-9890. Please call me with any questions. Like I said I would be more than happy to offer any help/advice that I can. |
