My experience with Lamborghini Denver has been horrible. I spoke with the Sales Manager, Salem, about ordering a new Spyder. I came down and test drove two cars, egear and 6 speed in order to decide. Then he pushed for me to buy one of the three cars in inventory, none of which were to my liking (silver and black cars, few options). He wanted to do a two car deal with a buy back on a car I would take now. We speced the spyder in person that day, but he did not have prices, and said he would finalize the order and have it ready for me on Saturday. I told him I would come down and sign and give him a check.
Friday, he faxed me the final order sheet with prices. He told me to bring a check down on Saturday, and I said okay, but that I was only buying the Spyder, and not another car. He was very unhappy with that. He told me that "that took the lustre off the deal, only selling one car, and that he might not have sold me the spyder if he knew that in advance." He said he could sell the car out of market for more money. In the end he did say he would sell me the car however. He sent me an email late Friday afternoon telling me to bring a check for $15,000 to proceed. We agreed on Saturday. This morning he sends me an email saying the car is sold, I can't have it. I think this is unethical and outrageous. He made a committment, we specd the car, and now I am punished for not buying two cars. I called him and he said someone brought him a check first. He said it did not matter to him that we had an arrangement, or that he committed the car to me. Buyers beware, this dealership cannot be trusted, and do not follow through on their word. I have kept all the emails in case anyone wants to verify this themselves. I am so mad I could spit. |

I'm sorry you missed the Gallardo spyder,
I offered you the car, I did not commit the car to you. I asked for your deposit and was told you would bring it when you placed the order. I made very clear to you from our first conversation that I had other interest in the vehicle and needed your deposit to solidify the order. If I hadn't given you the oportunity to leave a deposit during our initial meeting, then I would agree that I wronged you, but I did ask. and you chose to wait. |

It does suck, even a little bit of money would have been good to leave. $1000. on a Credit Card. At least you would have had something there. in my stores we dont take deposits for that reasons. We dont hold cars in fact lots of places dont. We will let people bring back money, but paperwork goes through right away. Im sure there are other cars out there. Perhaps you can locate another one.
Only thing the dealer did wrong IN MY OPINION is give you a hard time bacause you didnt want to purchase both cars. Thats not right. Regardless, good luck finding a similar car, hope it works out, bring a check book with you next time to avoid a situation like this...

I think what really happened, is that Salem was putting another guy off, stringing him along, in hopes that I would buy two cars. When I declined to purchase a car from inventory, and only buy a new spyder for $227,000, he called the other guy and sold it out from under me.
I have an email at 4pm saying bring a check for $15,000. We agreed on Saturday morning. At 8:36 this morning he sent me the below email: Chris, I just wanted to let you know that the January allocation for a spyder has been filled. the Next available allocation will be mid spring. Please call if you have any questions. Salem We all know it is not reasonable to believe that a guy walked in off the street and handed him a check. He worked the deal and never had intention of honoring our agreement. He would not even wait until the morning, and sold the car the same afternoon, despite sending me an email asking for a check. I think people in the Lamborghini market, and in Colorado, need to understand the business ethics of this sales manager. |

I agree with the suggestion to report this to Lamborghini NA. A direct threat to sell the car out of market for a markup if I don't buy two cars is poor business practice, and I can't imagine Lamborghini NA would approve of it.
I'll send a letter Monday, as well as to the GM/owner of John Elway/Autonation. |

Somehow dont think you have a leg to stand on reporting anything to Lamborghini, NA. You have nothing in writing other than the allocation was filled before you were able to come in with a deposit.
Besides, thats a pretty harsh method anyway. Im sure you can find your car elsewhere. Dont get too crazy. Hope you can manage to settle this calmly without creating a SERIOUS situation for either parties.

Did you lead the dealer to believe that you were buying 2 cars in order to get the spyder? Im sorry to say it but if that was the case I could see the dealers point - here in nyc in order to get a 430 spyder for anywhere near list the dealers are requiring that you buy a maserati (dog) as well - sometimes even 2!

Let me ask you, would any reputeable dealer spend a week with a person, fill out the order sheet with me in person, fax it to me for my approval Friday late afternoon, and then sell it the same day?
Never even a single communication stating that I had until said time to get a depost in or he was giving the car away? No, this is simple dealer greed. If he was not going to sell two cars, then he was going to sell out of market for a markup. I spent an entire week on this deal. And no, I hardly need to buy two cars to get this. It was afterall, an open allocation with no buyers. And I hardly think this is harsh. I am happy to post the completed order sheet with time and dates here, and to Lamborghini NA. I doubt seriously they would consider this good business practice, or good for public relations. After that, they can do with it what they will. However, others some learn from my experience. |
